Maybe we'd have better luck if non-hardened offenders were in a safer environment and received education and training for when they get released. Tossing some 16-18'year old into a prison where he/she is raped and beaten isn't serving anyone's purpose. This isn't suggesting we treat prisoners with kid gloves, but...; 1/11/2017 3:24 PM
Comrade Misfit said...: CP88, I knew of one state that had a dedicated cellblock for child abusers and kiddie porn users. Their deal was that if a defendant pled out to the charges, they'd get to go to that unit. If they went to trial, they'd go into the general population at some other prison.

I agree that there is something wrong with factoring the risk of rape and death into the prison calculus. But maybe it's a knock against me that the situation is lower down the chain of concerns that I have. If the Asswipe of Charleston or the Old Asswipes of Barber Ranch or the Asswipe of the Ambassador Hotel were to get shanked in prison, I don't know as I'd be overly choked up about it.; 1/11/2017 5:01 PM
