And no, they don't have to prove that you've done anything wrong. The IRS, in fact, the entire "civil forfeiture" system, runs on the French system: You are guilty until proven innocent.
And good luck with that, Bucko.
This shit needs to be changed. But it won't be. Law enforcement from top to bottom, from the Feds to the local po-po, are addicted to living off stealing people's cash without having to prove that any crime was committed.

Yet another reason why we need to do away with the drug prohibition laws. They couldn't get away with this bullshit without them.

As I mentioned elsewhere, what American court could possibly deny a demand to return that money based on the First Amendment? The fucking Supremes made money into speech, so they fucking have to give it back because they put themselves in this situation.
Money is speech, motherfuckers! That means the U.S. government CAN'T TAKE IT AWAY FROM US.
Interesting idea, Nan. But I don't think the Supreme Court meant that your money was speech.
If they were consistent about it, it would spell the end of the nation, wouldn't it? Can't tax because of the First. Can't be the U.S. government WITHOUT the First... so... no more U.S. government.
