One of the problems is that the revelations keep coming at a furious pace. I really can't keep up with them.
For instance, under the NSA's "Three Degrees of Terrorism" analysis, it's pretty much a certainty that they have targeted, for collection, every person in this country. Because the Federales pretty much regard anyone who disagrees with things as being terrorists, or potential terrorists. And odds are that at least one of those folks is a friend of a friend of yours-- for the NSA's purposes, "friend" is anyone who you've been in contact with by any means.
The Brits have been working as the butt-monkeys for the NSA. Their British cousins, the GCHQ, would have had to have laid off workers if the NSA didn't cough up something like $150 million over the last few years in money given to GHQC. In turn, GHQC got busy doig the spying that the NSA can't do, which presumably means "spying on Americans".
More NSA whistleblowers are alleging that the NSA isn't just collecting metadata, they are collecting everything. And yes, if you are using "the cloud" for anything remotely sensitive, you are officially an imbecile.
Of course the NSA hasn't followed the rules on what they can collect and they got caught. You can bet that the number of NSA employees disciplined for that is somewhere between zero and a very small number.
Oh, and if you haven't gone to a thrift store to buy a working analogue TV to replace your new digital one, you might want to consider it. Or at least tape over the camera and microphone on that new set. Or better yet, find someone who can physically disable them.
