The Wheels Start Grinding

A West Virginia state lawmaker and a man pictured sitting at U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk are among those facing federal charges stemming from the siege on the U.S. Capitol by President Donald Trump’s supporters, federal prosecutors said on Friday.
...
Ken Kohl, a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, told the news briefing that West Virginia Delegate Derrick Evans now faces criminal charges after he apparently “recorded himself storming the Capitol.”

Kohl said the department is also charging Richard Barnett of Arkansas in connection with his entering Speaker Pelosi’s office where he “left a note and he removed some of the speaker’s mail.”

They should have held off charging these clowns for two weeks, for it's probably a good bet that Trump will give pardons to those assholes.

Pm the civil side of the courthouse, Dominion Voting Systems is going to sue the pants off of Sidney Powell. Since that's a civil beef, Trump can't pardon her pathetic pasty ass.

Trump's Childish Tantrum Continues

President Donald Trump said Friday he won’t attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, undercutting his message a day earlier that he would work to ensure a “smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power” to his successor.
....
“A new administration will be inaugurated on Jan. 20,” Trump said in the video. “My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation.”

By next morning, however, Trump was back to his usual division. Instead of offering condolences to the police officer who died from injuries sustained during the riot, Trump took to twitter to commend the “great American Patriots” who’d voted for him.

So much for his forced statement of "can't we all just get along". Trump continues to be a petty, childish septugenarian toddler.

Nothing's changed.

SoHo Karen Arrested

And, predictably, she resisted arrest.

Because It's Friday

The first ten minutes has a music soundtrack. Steam power makes its own damn music, thak you very much.

Trump Bangs a Uey Under Fire

With 12 days left in his term, President Donald Trump has finally bent to reality amid growing talk of trying to force him out early, acknowledging he’ll peacefully leave after Congress affirmed his defeat.

Trump led off a video from the White House Thursday by condemning the violence carried out in his name a day earlier at the Capitol. Then, for the first time on camera, he admitted his presidency would soon end — though he declined to mention President-elect Joe Biden by name or explicitly state he had lost.

Trump's statement begins with lies. He was not outraged by what happened. He did not "immediately deploy" the National Guard. He resisted calls for the Guard.

Watch his bullshit:

Trump read his statement with all of the emphasis and energy that he displayed when he had to backwater from his "good people on both sides" statement after Charlottesville. It is clear, from his demeanor, that he's reading that more or less under duress.

Let's remember that, as his rioters were in the Capitol, Trump was telling him that he loved them and that they were special people to him. Now, with his own loyalists defecting, he's following the Dirksen Rule.[1]

For four years, Trump has been the purveyor of hate and division. Now, with less than two weeks left, and the real possibility that he's going to be criminally charged for inciting a riot, he wants to be the president of unity, togetherness and reconciliation.

Right. That would have been like a certain German leader calling for peace talks as Soviet artillery shells were falling everywhere. It should have the same effect.

Only Some Blue Lives Matter, Apparently

Before we get to that: George Will names Trump, Hawley and Cruz as the repulsive architects 0f Wednesday's disgusting spectacle.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled feature:

The goon who is the Chicago cop's union president thinks its just peachy that Trump supporters were rioting on Wednesday:

The people who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday are getting support from the president of Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police lodge.

John Catanzara, elected last May to represent the city’s 12,000 rank-and-file police officers, said he understands the frustration behind the riot, which led to four deaths, injuries to several police officers and damage to the iconic building.

“There was no arson, there was no burning of anything, there was no looting, there was very little destruction of property,” Catanzara told WBEZ in a Wednesday evening phone interview. “It was a bunch of pissed-off people that feel an election was stolen, somehow, some way.”

What there was, however, ws the murder of a police officer.

A U.S. Capitol Police officer, Brian Sicknick, has died of injuries suffered when supporters of President Donald Trump assaulted the legislative building, the force said, bringing to five the number dead from the riot.

I am certain that there will be eight different kinds of waffling and evasion from the supporters of Trump's Beer-Belly Putsch, who will say shit about maybe Officer Sicknick died from other causes. You can bet the farm that if there had been a Black Lives Matter protest going on, that the Blue Lives Matter crowd would be calling for scalps. Here, not so much.

Betsy DeVos has had enough. So has the Wall Street Journal.

Meanwhile, remember, children, vandalism is not cool.

Dozens of cars belonging to people who headed to Washington, D.C., Wednesday morning had their tires slashed in Butler County.

And for those who believe that this was something spontaneous:

If You Recognize Any of These Assholes, Call the D.C. Cops (or the FBI)

Lots of people, including this asshole:

There is a 26-page wanted flyer. If you know who any of them are, it's worth a kilobuck to you.

At least one idiot was wearing his company ID. The Viking asshole has been identified.

FBI wants them, too.

As has been pointed out, more people died in the Beer-Belly Putsch than who died in Benghazi.

Meanwhile, COVID Isn't Letting Up

Yesterday's butcher's bill for the pandemic:

Trump is focused on plotting his coups, but the virus doesn't give a fuck.

Over a 9-11 a day. But all that comes out of the White House is crickets.

Yesterday, January Sixth, Two Thousand and Twenty-One, a Date That Will Live in Infamy

The more that I think about this, the angier I become. If yesterday in Washington, D.C., a Black Lives Matter protest had been planned, the cops and the National Guard would have been out, in force. Every Federal LE agency, other than maybe the Amtrak cops, would have been there and ready.

But for the MAGA Fascists, not so much. Those pissants were all over social media, talking about storming the Capitol, and the authorities blew it off.

Well, the White Privilege Riot, the Beer-Belly Putsch, took place. The insurrectionists stormed the Capitol and vandalized offices, and all you'll hear from the Right is a fine dose of whataboutism.

This wasn't a riot. It was a brazen attempt to seize power in the deluded belief, as encouraged by Trump and the Right Wing Noise Machine, that they could storm the Capitol and force the Congress to keep Trump in office.

If you are good with this, then you are not a loyal American. You are a seditionist, a full-bloodied illegitimate Fascist wrapped in a blanket of pseudo-patriotism. You are as much a "good American" as were those marching under the NSDAP banner in the 1920s and 1930s were good Germans.

What should happen, now, is to identify as many of these thugs as possible and then charge them with as many crimes as the facts will bear.

On January 21st, charges should be brought for inciting a riot. Those so charged should include everyone who spoke at the kickoff to the Beer-Belly Putsch.

Also, this. And now we know what it took for Miss Lindsey to break his lip-lock on Trump's ass.

As the pilothouse of the Titanic slips beneath the waves, the rats and lawyers are bailing.
