Fly the Fiendish Skies, Maybe You Won't Die

As the man returned from the lavatory with a mask dangling from one ear, a flight attendant asked him to put it on properly.

“Why? Is something going on that I should know about?” the passenger asked, before grabbing the mask and ripping the string. “Damn it, I guess I can’t wear it now.”

Other passengers have verbally abused and taunted flight attendants trying to enforce airline mask requirements, treating the potentially lifesaving act as a pandemic game of cat-and-mouse.

The story is a depressing litany of passengers' intransigence and defiance of mask rules. The problem is that if you fly, you're confined in an aluminum tube with those covidiots.

Better to have taken Dr.Fauci's advice to not travel or, if possible, take a sleeper car.

It is High Time to Remove the Vestige of Slavery in Our Electoral Process

I am referring, of course, to the Electoral College.

Between the way that electors are assigned and the fact that slaves were counted as 3/5ths persons for the purposes of the Census from 1790 through 1860, the Electoral College gave outsiszed representation to slave-holding states when it came time to choose presidents. The slave-holding states were concerned that if the President was elected by a majority vote, the more populous northern states would vote in a president dedicated to the abolition of slavery.

It happened anyway. But instead of a negotiated phase-out, with compensation of some sort to those owning slaves, emancipation was achieved at the point of a gun. Lots of guns. Over 600,000 people were killed (almost all young men) and the slave-holding regions were economically devastated for almost a century.

But the Electoral College survives.

Now, we are seeing an attempt by the bitter dead-ender elements of the losing party of the 2020 presidential election to use the Electoral College to, in effect, stage a coup. This won't be allowed to stand, of course. The Trumpists have no chance of prevailing in their delusional attempt to retain power, despote a thrashing at the polls.

That doesn't mean that somebody won't try this stupid shit again. Having identified a weakness in the system, a weakness that is prone to the machinations of electoral thieves, we should fix the weakness by jettisoning the Electoral College.

The beneifits are obvious. It would be impossible, in a close election, to then steal the outcome of a single state and flip the election.

The cost would be to a certain political party that has come to believe that it cannot prevail in a contest of ideas, that its only hope of achieving and retaining power in the Executive Branch is by chicanery, by denying those people the right to vote. And now, we're seeing that their chicanery extends, not only to denying people the right to vote, but by trimming the results so that the winner is excluded.

I say: Fuck them.

Let's fix the system before the Party of Treason wrecks this country for good.

The Golden Rule of Politics

Is "I'll Do Unto You Like You Did Unto Me."

Picture this: It's the 2024/28/32 election. The presidential election wasn't even close. The losing party controls both houses of Congress. On the day that the electoral votes are presented to Congress, objections are raised in both houses of Congress. The objections are sustained and the losing presidential candidate becomes president.

How will the American people react when they realize that the election was, essentially a sham? That a coup was just held?

Or what happens when the losing candidate challenges the results in court and this time around, the judges hearing the cases are loyal to their party and not to the facts and the law? And again, the lsing candidate takes over and the election itself was essentially a sham?

At that point, this coiuntry will no longer be a republic. It will be something else, a nation where politicians, through means foul and filthy, overturn the results of the election.

What we have to do, now, is make certain that the politicians who have tried to overturn the results of the election pay a price. Those who are engaging in this attempt at overturning this election pay a price. Trump and his cadre of bozo lawyers have filed something like fifty cases and have come up with nothing. No proof of voter fraud that meets any sort of legal standard.

For example, Josh Hawley is forty years old. For however much time he has on this world, his bit of sedition should be put before him every freaking day. It should be a law that Hawley is hereby and forever forbidden from displaying the American flag. His lapel pin should be the poop emoji. For he is a walking, talking, steamng pile of sentient excrement. And that is all he ever will be.

The Republican party is, indeed, the party of Trump, the party of treason. If you call yourself a Republican and if you haven't taken a stand against the Turmpist coup, then you are as evil as they are.
