Boy howdy, it was really something when Republicans were up in arms, sometimes literally, about the Affordable Care Act.
But when Trump greatly expands the reach of the presidency, like threatening to declare a national emergency so that he can force companies (including the importers of MAGA hats) to stop doing business with China, the only thing you hear from Republicans is crickets.
Just crickets. They are either collaborationists or cowards; in the final analysis, there's really no difference.
Remember this?
Wars of any kind are never easy. There are almost always things that happen that the initiator didn't foresee once the fur begins to fly.

So, by his logic, I'm losing many thousands of dollars to the grocery store...
See, people buy things. Sometimes those things come from close by, sometimes not.
But he doesn't believe in paying people for the goods and services he gets, so any cash spent in trade is a sucker's mistake in his eyes.
That is not an attitude we want imposed anywhere, much less worldwide. In fact, there are laws against it on the scale of the individual, not that he bothers himself with them.
Perhaps if he were made to bother himself with them he would understand how world trade works, but perhaps not.

What would make you believe we aren't "collaborationists or cowards"
We know it won't happen. We really don't care what he says.
To point out all the times Y'all were silent would bring cries of "Whataboutism".
Don’t remember a previous President asserting such control over an industry since Truman lost his battle to control the steel industry 60 years ago, B. People lost their minds when Michelle asserted that kids should eat healthy meals, like she and Barry had issued a ukase on the subject.

B., by remaining silent, you are (by the terms imposed, on the Muslim world, by Republicans) supporting his behavior.
Call Trump on out things such as his "transactional Antisemitism" and blowing his racist steam-whistle. Oppose his expansion of the use of executive powers.
Everything Trump is doing will be used as precedent by a future president. If you're fine with Trump declaring a national emergency on the border and using that to divert money because he can't get the bills he wants from Congress, you're have to swallow a future president declaring a national emergency on gun violence and then who knows what will be implemented. Bans? Buy-backs? A few F-35s will fund the cost of buying back several hundred thousand rifles.
If you think that isn't being actively considered by at least some of those who seek to displace Trump, I fear you're in error.

No, when we're in power again, we'll be expected to abide by all of the rules and guidelines Fergus has flouted while we clean up the mess he has made of everything and all of the sudden the deficit will be the most important issue in the universe.
We have to play by the rules, they don't believe they need to, and even still, the shrieking and wailing about "socialism" and "tyranny" will be loud and nonstop just like last time, and no matter what we do.
