It's Almost Adorable When Trump Thinks He Has Dictatorial Powers

President Donald Trump declared Friday that he had “hereby ordered” American companies with operations in China “to immediately start looking for” an alternative after Beijing announced a series of retaliatory tariffs.

Yep, King Donald the Nutjob thinks that he has the power to order around American corporations, or, for that matter, anyone else, to do whatever flits through his increasingly unhinged mind.

Everyone else probably knows that the president of the United States has no power to order American citizens (and corporations) to do anything.

By the way, does the order apply to Ivanka?

(Bet you won't hear a single Republican say "boo" about this.)

I'm sure Ivanka will promptly turn loose all her Chinese copyrights and trademarks, right?

Maybe congress needs to get off their soft cushy chairs and set
the tariff as that is their mandate by law and constitution and
its not the presidents authority to do so.

FYI its not an effing emergency but the economic damage he does is!

Monday is likely to be a stock market bloodbath. Donnie has doubled down in response to the Chinese ante, and Wall Street will have all weekend to worry and then get to watch the Asian and European markets open first. The real fun with be the Sunday morning talk shows...bring popcorn.

I was kinda wondering whether his edict applied to his ties or MAGA hats...

Cut to the chase: Hand over re-election in 2020, make me Maximum Dear Leader for Life and no one will get hurt.
Right.

I can only imagine the tantrum if had he been told to relocate by a President. Any President, not just Obama.
But hey, it's all OK for the head cheese.

If anyone on the R side was serious about this, they could invite Pelosi to re-pass S.3816 (111th), the Creating American Jobs and Ending Offshoring Act, that was passed early in the first year of Obama's presidency. One of many bills that McConnell refused to even discuss. Hmmm... I wonder how many companies have left Kentucky since then -- that might have stayed if they weren't getting a tax break to help ease the move.

It seems Donnie’s gonna lean on the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA. First problem is it requires consultation with Congress.
