Not So Much the Borg Candidate

Clinton fired her campaign manager and replaced her.

I guess the positive aspect from this is that Clinton, unlike the Chimperor, seems to be less inclined to reward bad results. No "you're doing a heckuvajob" from her.

This is the photo that MSNBC ran to illustrate the story, the former manager is standing behind Hillary:

It makes them both look as though they were doing a little bit of speed.

Clinton's campaign for many months was premised on the idea that she was unstoppable and had everything locked up, so you might as well fall in line and support her.

Titanic, meet iceberg.

The Hypocrisy of Chimpy McFlightsuit

He's against earmarks. Except when they're his earmarks. Including $6.5 million for research on the “fundamental properties of asphalt.”

So Chimperor Disgustus's ranting about earmarks is as hypocritical as W.C. Fields talking about the evils of booze.

The rants almost write themselves, these days. You'd think by now that the hypocrisy that is the Bush Administration would cause their heads to explode, but no.

In An Alternate Universe, It is Still Caturday

Jake was left out of yesterday's Caturday posting, so here he is:

George is performing "mom duty" on Gracie. He's not so good about letting her reciprocate.

What To Do With The Rebate From Der Monkey Fuhrer?

What I would really like to do is help buy a spine for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, but even Bill Gates doesn't have that kind of money. There isn't enough money on the fraking planet. Those two worthies make Neville Chamberlain look like a study in courage.

So I'm thinking of things to do with the money that will piss off the Baboon King and this is my short list:

1. Donate some of it to the ACLU and whatever other group is fighting to close the Gitmo Gulag.
2. Use it to pay bills or plunk into my IRA.

To piss off Pelosi and Reid, I'm thinking to buy a new (to me) rifle.

But those ideas are not compatible. I'm thinking I'd rather piss off the Baboon King.

Anyway, if you need a non-political laugh, read this.

My Honey, My Baby, Don't Put My Cat Up On No Shelf

Just give me more treats and keep your hands to your self.

George will let the other cats push him around when it comes to getting treats, so I put them in a little custard dish and I put the dish on a shelf. The other cats can't get to him there.

It's Caturday!

Women's Rights in Iraq

One thing the Baboon King and the First Robot used to talk about was how good Operation Clusterfuck was for the women of Iraq. Four years ago, they were positively giddy on the subject.

Well, once again, reality raises its ugly head. Not that any such inconvenient facts will ever penetrate the Bush Bubble, a land where George Bush is kind and wise and the hosannas of his loyal sycophants fill the ears of the Quarter-Bright Monarch.

George Bush: Prisoner Within the U.S

With the admission by CIA director Hayden that waterboarding was used, one thing is now becoming clear: After they leave office, the officials involved, from John Yoo to George Bush and everyone in between, are now or will not be free to travel abroad.

For if they do, they will be subject to arrest and trial for war crimes.

As they should be. Ideally, we would clean up our own mess, but that is not possible, given that the Republicans would, as they have for years, put loyalty to their party ahead of loyalty to their country. Bush can order torture and that is fine, so long as he doesn't get a blowjob from an intern.

So let them travel and be arrested, just like any other criminal tinpot of an ex-dictator.

News From Below: Hell Has Frozen Over

Hell must have frozen over, for I agree with Dick Cheney on something.

Like This Is a Surprise; GITMO Edition

It's 2008, an election year, and what is the Administration and Party of Fear going to do in order to keep frightening the electorate?

Terrorism show trials, of course!

From the day that the Baboon King first issued an executive order setting up the military commissions system, it has been a stain on the honor of this country. Though, to be fair, the way that Disgustus Maximus and Vice-Chancellor Voldemort have run things, this country has little to no honor left to lose. They have burned through that as fast as they burned through the budget surplus bequeathed to them by the Clinton Administration.

Everything to do with Guantanamo Bay has been a farce and an affront to principle of the rule of law and due process. This will be no different. There will be nothing approaching a fair trial taking place. There is a long track record at GITMO of disciplining or replacing or reassigning military judges who show any trace of bringing any level of judicial scrutiny or impartiality to their tasks.

We should do away with this farce completely. Let's be honest about what is going on here: Just stand the prisoners against a wall and shoot them. If we are going to perpetrate a dishonorable act, let's at least stop lying to ourselves and to the rest of the world about it.
