Thousands of Straight White Guys Have Carried Out Mass Shootings, and Nobody Does Nothing

But let one transgendered person do it and the Trump DOJ's trying to strip gun rights from everyone who is trans.

In the wake of the Minneapolis Catholic church shooting, senior Justice Department officials are weighing proposals to limit transgender people’s right to possess firearms, according to two officials familiar with the internal discussions.

This is Hitler's playbook, people, right to a fucking T: Stripping gun rights from a despised minority to see if they can get away with denying gun rights to lots of other people. Reichminister of Hate Miller has already said that Democrats are a hate group, so guess who will be on the target list.

What interesting is the vast number of perps that are rethug magas
doing the shootings. The propaganda remains they ain't us and
we have to get rid of them where us is not everyone else..

That they're all ignorant voyeurs hopped up on psychotropic drugs ~ bare-footed barely literate rubes sprawled drooling Pavlovianly across a "couch" the back seat out of a nineteen sixty-nine Chevy Suburban drunk as a skunk on Ambien, Prozac, Viagra and bimbo bottle-blonde bobble-heading crotch-shots on Fox Kool-Aid ~ is beside the point, moot in the generally accepted vernacular

Re "manifestos" ~ I have no way of knowing they wrote that ...

I have two points to make. First there have not been thousands of mass shootings in America from as far back as 1982 -2025, according to Mother Jones, hardly a conservative media. Their website lists 156 mass shootings in that time period.
Second, this entire idea of banning transgender persons from having firearms looks to me to be a smokescreen, something that Trump uses against the left quite often, with some success.
It is a tactic which he often uses in order to force his ideas onto others, via a threat of something or another. His tariffs come to mind. After he announced huge unprecedented tariffs on pretty much every nation, a rather significant number of them came to an agreement with the U.S. to change their own tactics on tariffs. So in a way part of his tariffs use seems to have been not to actually place huge tariffs on every other nation, but to force them to negotiate with us to try and level the playing field.
Of course this tariff issue can be debated and with some credibility that they are not good for us, but tariffs are just one example of Trump using outlandish ideas to prod someone to do what he wants.
As for why he would consider banning firearms to any non violent person is beyond me, other than to attempt to score political points with the far right conservatives. Something that pretty much every politician does all the time. Trump is a flawed person, of that there is no doubt. But by making these outlandish statements, if in fact he did, then he angers the left who then go on to defend flawed policies of their own. We saw that recently when the crime rates went down in D.C. The left are actually coming out as angry that the National Guard was used, while the facts are that D.C. is now a safer place than it was only a month ago.
On a shorter note, I suspect that Trump won't last his entire term, due to either health or other reasons, and then we will have J.D. Vance to deal with. That is something that will be interesting to see.

This guy is pretty much an autocrat-wannabee. You seem to be treating him as though he's a standard politician, PP51. And he is most assuredly not. Taking guns away from a defined group of people is right out of Hitler's playbook and that you don't seem to get that is a little worrisome.

PP, its a fact that cars have killed way to many and if you have 4 people
in it then is a mass killing (excuse the snark). The thousands comes
from anti-gun movement that counts anything within 100 ft of a gun
as gun crime. Their credibility is generally crap but they have their
cult as well.

Item 2, first F47* being part of P-2025 has an list if groups that
he wishes to be a plage to. His first trash out of the box was the
decree trans (and a shopping list of shit) as non-persons and
marginal people. So nothing new here. Its the continued
application of identify a group and vilify them. Then try to
ban, strip or otherwise handicap them.

The rest is far enough off topic to say I agree but damn
lets not have a made up manifesto. >sarc<

Comrade, Taking guns away from a select group of people is of course abhorrent. But remember that it is a play from the Democrat book. Consider that it is Democrats who don't want 18-20 year olds to have guns.
The Democrats also don't want ANYBODY to have guns. Look no further than strong blue cities like New York, Chicago, and pretty much any city in California and how difficult they make it for someone to both own and carry a gun for protection.
As for Trump being an autocrat wannabe, that is likely true, but it seems that one must admit that many of his policies have had positive results for the citizens of the nation.

So you’re going with the argument that dictatorship is OK if it does what *you* want?

Think how that’ll sound to your descendants, how little you values your liberty and how cheaply you sold it.

Eck! said...

The argument is about due process not authoritarian decree.
One is by statute or law the other is by some process that
extralegal in nature.

Comrade, while I do think that Trump is a wannabe dictator, the fact of the matter is that he is only the President. There are still two other branches of government in America that prevent him from enacting his crazy notions.
I think that Trump uses the bully pulpit like many other presidents before him. The fact that he gets under liberals skin is likely the reason he does some of it. And of course I don't believe that the ends justify the means, ever.

Have you been watching as the Supreme Court plays Calvinball? There're no rules, other than Trump wins.

I’m not disagreeing in general, but to defend by accusing the pro-gun control/anti-gun side of inflating numbers and such is a little strange when, no matter how you count things, we’re slaughtering people at a clip unseen anywhere else in the world. Other countries have the occasional mass attack, but the U.S. is near alone in the world for tolerating the killings of children in schools with remarkably little response.

We can argue about the proper response, but we cannot argue that there is a not significant problem in the U.S. where students as young as 4-5 years old are taught to stand on toilets quietly to perhaps survive an attack during the school day.

The pro and anti-gun cults, and the associated arguments about freedoms and meanings are doing little to protect the average American citizen from a level of violence that is simply absent from a large portion of the rest of the world. Something has to happen, and a mature debate about that would certainly be a good starting point. Doing nothing is akin to sending “thoughts and prayers”.

Comrade Misfit said...

CP88, those are all valid points about gun control, but this is not about gun control per se. This is about a hate-based administration, using every lever of power, it can to disadvantage a group that it despises.

Dayam, sometimes I just gotta' shake my head. If y'awl put as much effort into fixing the foulup as you do defending what's been done we'd be past this by now. He isn't "president", he's a pretendident; this isn't business as usual, it's a damned fascist coup, and the gestapo court isn't going to save us. And you're twisting yourself into un-tie-able knots justifying it

You should be rounded up, stuffed into cattle-cars and shipped to a reservation somewhere in the middle of nowhere

I still don't know if that kid wrote that "manifesto" ...

The way the forefathers wrote the constitution there should be reins on one branch to the other. But some seem to have not noticed the reins have fallen off and the ones in the majority are letting the horse's back half run wild without restraint to do what he pleases and they are either agreeing with his chaos and bigotry or just putting their fingers in their ears going, " nah, nah nah", out of fear of being put on his vengeance list.

Comrade Misfit said...

TB, I don't agree with rounding up the MAGAidiots. They've been pleating about that happening to them since Obama. Remember all the frothing they were doing about Jade Helm 15?

CenterPuke88 said...

Absolutely agree, Comrade, but the problem is we’ve backed ourselves into a corner here (the royal we, as the citizens of the U.S.) where we let these worthless leaders, er, scumbags continually take no actions, and actually make things worse with the cuts to mental health and actively “othering” marginalized groups. And now an even bigger scumbag is going to try to use the leverage of this to destroy and rebuild this country into a private bank account.

The chickens are well and truly home to roost, this country is a cesspit of hatred and vitriol against any group small enough to not be able to fight back effectively…and unless a whole bunch of us team up and turn this shit around, we are well and truly fucked. The fact that Sandy Hook wasn’t leveraged into a real change in policies and regulations about mental health, guns, securing guns and high capacity weapons with no sporting/hunting purpose when using a high-capacity magazine (yes, you can certainly use a .223 for varminting or hunting, but you don’t need more than a 10-20 round magazine for instance, it’s very unlikely you’ll have to lay down suppressing fire while your partner flanks those gophers).

For God’s sake, we have magazine capacity limits for shotguns when hunting birds. And these ideas don’t for a moment do anything except probably reduce the slaughter a little if they are not accompanied by serious mental health changes in this country, including swift, independent and non-partisan review of any Governmental decisions regarding gun ownership/seizure.

As for the Second Amendment being a bulwark against Government overreach and tyranny, turns out that was mostly just a lot of big talk by a group of spineless weasels who like their pew pews. Those who are serious about that these days are simply too few to be noticeable, and in all honesty, the citizens of a county rising up against a police state is likely no longer really possible without external support. Instead, people like the GOA are actively working to loosen the regulations without any form of guardrails…and it will end in tears.

And the NRA has come out in favor of transgender 2nd Amendment rights…that’s a line that would not have made my bingo card a couple of years ago.
