The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is winding down its mRNA vaccine development activities under the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), the agency announced Tuesday.
“We reviewed the science, listened to the experts, and acted,” HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a statement. The winding down will include the cancellation of some contracts, he added.
“BARDA is terminating 22 mRNA vaccine development investments because the data show these vaccines fail to protect effectively against upper respiratory infections like COVID and flu. We’re shifting that funding toward safer, broader vaccine platforms that remain effective even as viruses mutate.”
I am very confident that I can safely state that what Brainworm Bobby is saying is 100%, pure unadulterated bullshit. There's no reputable expert for that proposition and the science is not behind it.
What happened, though, is that Bobby Drainbamage knew the result that he wanted, so he hand-picked "experts" to support his position. There was no independent review, only the medical equivalent of Trump drawing on a hurricane map with a Sharpie.
mRNA vaccines are one of the great advances pushed through by the first Trump Administration. COVID vaccines saved millions of people and they earned a Nobel Prize.
But the far-right flat-earthers hated the idea of vaccines, preferring to take horse medicine that had, at best, a placebo effect. Thanks to those clowns, the world will get sicker and infectious diseases are roaring back.

For COVID-19:
mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) have proven highly effective at:
Preventing severe illness
Reducing hospitalizations and deaths
Offering short-term protection against infection
However:
Protection against mild or asymptomatic upper respiratory infection (e.g., in the nose/throat) declines over time.
Variants like Omicron are better at evading immunity, so breakthrough infections became more common.
Boosters help restore protection, especially in high-risk populations.
For Influenza:
mRNA-based flu vaccines are still in experimental or early-use stages.
Traditional flu vaccines are only 40–60% effective some years due to flu virus variability.
mRNA flu vaccines aim to improve this but aren’t yet widely proven or used.
Early trial data has shown promise, but more studies are needed.
So why stop studies now? Because the gas bag says so and the consequences be damned as long as his asshole leader is kept happy.
Will there be federal funding for digging mass graves and/or refrigerated trucks as the dead pile up to be cremated? Nope. He'll let the states pay for theirs and the ash from the crematoriums will darken the skies.
