Two men were arrested on New Year’s Eve for allegedly shutting down four Washington state power substations in late December that led to power outages for thousands across Pierce County. ... Investigators identified [both asswipes] almost immediately after the attacks took place by using cell phone data that allegedly showed both men in the vicinity of all four substations, according to court documents. Surveillance images cited in the court documents also showed images of one of the men and of the getaway car.
Committing crimes while carrying a cell phone is only slightly less dumb than criming while wearing an ankle monitor These two idiots allegedly cut power so they could rob the cash registr of a local business. Which makes them sort of a dumb-ass version of Oceans Eleven.

Amusing, in that when the power is cut, the business will either lose power to the register, or turn off the register before the UPS fails to save their sales data. At that point, without the key, you can’t open the register without beating the hell out of it…just like when you have power. I guess the cameras would be off too (probably), but the roads would have cops all over looking for shit like this. Plus, without knowing the power grid, you’re just guessing what will kill the power at Bubba’s Bait Shop (or, given it’s the NorthWest, Walters Weed Wigwam). Wanna bet they had a person watching to phone them when the power went out, not considering the cell service is likely to take a hit too?
The bagmen could be in the store ahead of time. Cell towers generally have some battery backup. Wouldn't it be easier to just shoot the transformer for the place you wanted to hit or is that just too much work? The NC Carthage shooters are still at large. I had by January 23rd on Linkedin and I'm getting nervous.
Four juvenile miscreants tagged themselves when their cel phones connected to a school Wi-Fi while they were vandalizing it. Opsec is such a lost art - cel phones basically broadcast their location 7/24. Fitness trackers and smartwatches should also be left at home, but then the asswipes won’t get credit towards their fitness goals.
Winston-Salem’s oldest radio station, WSJS at 600 on the AM dial, has been off the air since earlier this week after vandals destroyed the last of three working radio towers on a 44-acre tract off Robinhood Road
