A blog by a "sucker" and a "loser" who served her country in the Navy.

that the 2020 election was stolen, or
especially if you supported the 1/6/21 insurrection,
leave now.

Those things really fly, aeh.
Not really. They're so ugly that the Earth repels them.
Does this mean they finally have a solution to the crashes? I understood them to be quite dangerous when changing flying modes.
An interesting idea but not worth lives if it isn't perfected.

Oopsie... In the helo mode, they are nothing more than a helicopter flying sideways... sigh
From Wikipedia:
"The V-22 Osprey had 12 hull loss accidents that resulted in a total of 42 fatalities. During testing from 1991 to 2006 there were four crashes resulting in 30 fatalities.[Since becoming operational in 2007, the V-22 has had seven crashes including two combat-zone crashes, and several other accidents and incidents that resulted in a total of 12 fatalities."
So. 30 fatalities in 4 well publicized crashes over 15 years of testing. In the 15 years since then, 12 fatalities, some of which involved combat zones.
No aircraft is ever perfected, but for something that has a helo mode, It appears good enough. The Navy has approved a version to replace the Greyhound for COD and other ship replenishment.
Thanks J4. 'Appears good enough'. Damning with faint praise. I thought it would be cancelled, but then all vertical flight aircraft make me uneasy. Fixed wing prejudice I guess.
I read that the Navy was having such problems with the exhaust overheating the deck, causing the deck plates to actually WARP, that they asked DARPA if they could come up with a solution. Did they? Hot turboprob exhaust is also the reason Marine One is not one of those -- it would totally tear the White House Lawn apart.
