Lies and Lies from Trump

President Trump, who avoided serving in the Vietnam War thanks to several dubious draft deferments, said Wednesday he was “never a fan” of the bloody 20-year conflict and claimed he’s making up for his failure to serve by boosting defense budgets.

In a softball interview with British TV personality Piers Morgan, Trump suggested he was pleased with avoiding the Vietnam War and said he would have preferred to serve in a battle like World War II.

“I thought it was a terrible war,” Trump said of U.S. military involvement in communist Vietnam. “I thought it was very far way, and at that time nobody ever heard of the country. So many people dying, what is happening over there? So I was never a fan."
Really? Really? Let's look back, shall we.

Trump got his bone spur deferment in 1968. This was after a few college deferments. Well before 1968, everyone knew about the Vietnam War and where Vietnam was. The war was routinely on the covers of the news magazines, but scratch that, Trump doesn't read. It was on the news a lot. The Tet Offensive began on January 30, 1968. Footage of the battle aired on the nightly news damn near every day.

Besides that, I'm reasonably confident that if Trump had had a choice of whether to fight in World War II, he'd have either run from that one or fought for the nation that he ideologically agrees with.

Which isn't the one he is playing president of.[1]

More bald-faced lies made to justify himself at this time. I a few days time, he’ll deny saying what he said and cry out FAKE NEWS! Then talks of more tariffs (which is his latest go-to maneuver) to change the news cycle. And the right will remain silent, except for the “what about-ers.

I'm also not forgetting that, up until the point where WW2 was seen as a fight against unalloyed evil, the Republicans referred to it as "Mr. Roosevelt's War" (a term that was also used by Goebbels).

The folks who actually fought were most likely better off with him staying home. He kinda has the reverse Midas touch, and wouldn't have been a lot of help in combat.

Doug, you can almost hear the ping of the grenade’s spoon in the night.

I'm with Oakland Doug, you DO NOT want this weak cowardly lump of suet next to you in combat. Typical Republican chickenhawk keyboard warrior like all the rest. But they sure can slime genuine combat heroes like McCain.
