Bangity; Testing 1, 2, 3.

I stopped by my local range and tried out a M&P Shield in 9mm.

I put fifty rounds through the rental gun. It seemed pretty nice. I kind of like the idea of having a thumb-safety, but if I had one, I'd have to train to work it. One of the issues I've seen with people on a range is that they never drill at working the safety.

Tempting, especially since they can come with an integral laser for not much more.

We are raffling one of these off (with the laser) there are some great improvements in Version 2 of this gun. The trigger is better, the balance is better and, of course the laser (which I find hard to activate, but I am apparently the only one who does.

I am considering buying one, albeit without the laser.

They shoot nice, and handle well.

You could do worse. But check out the second version before buying.

B, I'm not sure how I feel about the laser. I am a fan of the grip-activated ones (I have a LG-350 on my Model 60). Less so of the manually-activated ones.

I'll have to find a 2.0 to coonfinger and see how I feel.

Anyway, what raffle?

Made me look that up, coonfinger, eh? Well, I can’t use it, cause of the mildly pervasive usage of “coon” in another context around here, but it’s so wonderfully descriptive. Anyone know where it originated?

I'm wondering if these, and perhaps the Glock 43s, are going to be discounted in the near future. With that new Sig P365 offering 10-round capacity in a gun the same size as these single-stacks, I'd think competition will be getting fierce for them.

Sig seems to be having some QC problems of late.
