Apparently, some putz has come up with an idea for a DNA scanner to collect DNA samples from travelers. The idea is that if the plane crashes, they can use the samples to identify the passengers.
It didn't take long for that to transmogrify into a "TSA wants your DNA" meme.
TSA denies it. But they do admit that "the DHS Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) expects to receive a prototype DNA analyzer device this summer to conduct a preliminary evaluation of whether this kind of technology could be considered for future use."
So what the TSA is saying is that they have no plans now to collect DNA samples from everyone, but they leave the door wide open to do that whenever they damn well please.

Damn, I knew I hated GATICA for a reason. I hate when life begins to resemble unpleasant sci-fi.
If you can gather DNA from a fart I would be glad to deliver to my local TSA handler.
Well, that's a surprise. After all the right-wing howling & yowling about the left endangering civil rights, who's actually engaged in such actions? Projection, much?
