USAir Flight 1549 did not "crash" into the Hudson River. It "ditched," which is the proper term for the controlled landing of a landplane on the water.
And please stop referring to the pilot as the "miracle pilot." It was not a motherfucking miracle. It was the result of a trained flight crew doing what it trains to do.
There is enough in the story without the fucking asinine hyperbole. You people are making yourselves look like idiots to anyone who has even a smidgen of knowledge of aviation.
If you cannot get this right, how the hell can I have any trust in your reporting of complex matter, such as the economy, foreign policy,or the Baboon King's Wars?

It always bemuses me to read the safety card in the airplane seat pocket and see an unplanned, aquatic adventure called a "water landing."
People, it's a ditching. What, is calling it a "water landing" supposed to make it sound more pleasant? You're still dropping two hundred tons of metal and flammable fuel into a river or ocean. Oh, and you happen to be inside that failed submarine.
Maybe the life jacket and water segment of the safety briefing on every flight should be precluded by a video of Ethiopia Flight 961. That'll get people's attention away from their iPods and magazines. That might also get them off the plane! :)
Whatever the terminiology, that pilot and his crew did a helluva job ditching that plane without any fatalities or severe injuries.
Whatever do you mean, "how can I have any trust in your reporting of complex matter, such as the economy, foreign policy,or the Baboon King's Wars?" WHENEVER did you think you could trust them?

I don't trust them. Most of them have proved they are for sale and will spectacularize anything for profit. Good good pilot and he should get full credit for ditching successfully; and the passengers didn't panic and act like idiots as one might have feared in the wake of 8 years of fear-mongering. Good for fast rescue from the cold waters of the Hudson---good news all 'round, NO thanks to the media idiots.
I've been ranting about how this isn't a "miracle" over at the Munchkin Wrangler's blog. Suffice it to say:
1) Yay Training!
2) Yay Experience!
3) Yay Professionalism!
4) YAY HUMAN!
