The BART cop who shot and killed an unarmed man who was being held face-down on a subway platform by two other cops, has been arrested on a charge of "suspicion of murder."
Ya think?
Check out the videos, available everywhere. Oscar Grant was sitting on the platform, with his back against the wall. The BART cops pulled him up, put him face-down on the platform, and then Officer Mehserle, who was standing over him, drew his sidearm and put a bullet into Grant's back, killing him.
No word if the Texas cop who shot a Black man for the crime of parking his own SUV in his parents' driveway will be charged. Or if the New Orleans cops who gunned down another Black man in front of his grandmother's house, shooting him twelve times in the back, will be charged.
Probably not. If you are a civilian and you shoot someone, you had better have pulled off a Grade-A righteous shooting, otherwise you're going to jail for a very long time. But if you are one of the Badged-Up boys, it takes a massive amount of public outrage before you get charged for even the foulest shooting.
And sometimes, even that is not enough.
