Another Amerikanski Falls For a Mosin

I recall a Mosin discussion I had once with a gun show dealer. He and a friend of his went shooting out in the woods. His friend took a $1500 AR-15, $4000 worth of accessories, a bipod, and some premium ammo. The dealer just brought along his $60 Mosin 91/30 and some old paper-wrapped Albanian surplus ammo he'd picked up for $0.10 a round.

Over open sights, with crappy ammo and without the aid of a bipod, the dealer outshot his friend at all ranges. The 75 year old rifle made a mockery of all the gee-whiz technology.

I have no evidence to back this story up, just the dealer's word it was true. But knowing my Mosins, I have no doubt that it could happen.

The Russians simply build amazing weapons.

The sights on an AR-15 are far better than those of a Mosin. But being a really good shot makes up for a lot.
