Police Violence: Trump Owns Part of This

Trump has not been shy in encouraging cops to treat people harshly:
In President Donald Trump’s speech Friday afternoon [7/28/17 detailing his plan to fight back against MS-13 gang violence, he implored law enforcement, “Please, don’t be too nice,” to the people they are arresting.

Trump outlined a scenario in which a police officer would be careful not to harm a person they are arresting and instructed officers not to worry about that, saying:

“When you guys put somebody in the car and you're protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, don't hit their head and they've just killed somebody. Don't hit their head. I said, you can take the hand away, okay?”

There was a pause after Trump’s delivery, and then the officers behind him began to clap and cheer.
More substantively, the Trump administration backed away from holding police departments accountable for violating civil rights. Three years ago, Trump backed away from using consent decrees to police the police. Smirky the Fascist Elf, on his way out of the DoJ, issued orders further restricting the use of consent decrees.

Bunker Boy's message to the cops was loud and clear: Go ahead, use unjustifiable levels of force, for we won't be watching and even if you get caught, we won't hold you accountable.

Meanwhile, in Albuquerque, white supremacists with guns showed up at a protest against police violence and, sure enough, somebody got shot. Trump probably was grinning to see that.

Your Albuquerque link goes directly to a real estate questionnaire. Any chance you could fix that?

The guy who got shot was one of several attacking the guy who shot him. Was shot after knocking the shooter to the ground, shooter pulled pistol and shot. Going to be hard to spin this one, the video is clear.

W3ski, it works for me. I don't know what's happening when you click on it.

The so called civil guard has an interesting collection of fire arms
including SBR (looked like pistol grip 12ga).

Blow up the pictures and its interesting.

The another had what looked like tin foil wrapped something on
a chain around the neck. Any guesses what is it and what for?

Who are they? They were there to do what??

This is the video I saw https://twitter.com/i/status/1272735796949213184

Not sure about the other folks with guns, but if the 1st amendment protects peaceable assembly and the second protects arms, it should follow that you can peaceably assemble with arms

Gromit, the issue then becomes there is a different standard for an armed individual to avoid escalation than an unarmed individual. In Texas, exercising ones right to carry significantly increases your liability for anything that occurs from that carry and your either brandishing or openly carrying a weapon. For instance, if I pick a fight with another individual, and then pull out my gun and shoot them, I will likely be indicted for at least Manslaughter.

Videos are useful, but editing and when a video starts are my big concerns.

That's the trouble with fist-fighting these days, odds are the P ussy you just knocked flat will up with a pistol and shoot you in the back.

I don't argue they can have guns only that if they have them and
its a high likelihood of bad shit happening they are at risk just
because they had a gun and were there.

Then again Covid may get revenge...

My penny is to be elsewhere when possible. That makes the case for
fists, rocks glass or bullets far more unlikely. I do not seek a
fight, don't bring me one either.

Nowhere is there a link to the claim that he is a "White Supremacist". Nor is there any link to him being a part of the "militia" group that was there protesting peacefully.

Facts not in evidence and all that. Any connection is only in your mind.

But don't let that stop you.

As you like to say about various issues, B, Google it.

Baca was beaten with a skate board and shot the guy beating him. Per ABQ PD, no clear connection between him and the militia group- Albuquerque Police Department tactical units arrived and took Baca and several men who appeared to be members of the civil guard into custody. It’s unclear what connection Baca has to the militia group. An APD spokesman said the FBI is assisting in the investigation.

Ten Bears: That's what my dad, who was a golden gloves boxer, told me about fighting.
"If you get in a fight with a big fella, you might get your eye blacked or your shirt tore, but if you get in a fight with a little fella, be careful, because he might have an equalizer on him because he's still a little fella even when you're not around."

Never had much of a taste for it, myself.

B,

Do not be absurd. The link if you want to make counter wild
assumptions is in the pictures. Study the images and the video
as he is also up on the line with the same bunch at an earlier
point.

Based on many visual things like specific tats, infowars teeshirts...
Hoof-beats --> horses.

They could also be IIIpers though that may not apply.

The beauty of modern imaging and video is we have computer tools
to inspect them closely.

"In the videos, members of the New Mexico Civil Guard surround the sculpture as some protesters attempt to go around them. One of the protesters takes out a pickaxe, according to a local news report. ^Baca, who isn’t dressed in fatigues or outfitted with a long gun, doesn’t appear to be a member of the New Mexico Civil Guard.^

But don't let reality rain on your hated of folks who disagree with you.

And let us not forget that it wan't the folks on the Right that instigated violence.

DTWND said...

No, it was the people of on the right that escalated the threat level by brandishing long guns. And to what purpose other than to intimidate the protesters into submission. New Mexico Civil Guard, my ass. A bunch of fascists masquerading as vigilantes posing as law abiding citizens.

“Nice non-violent protest you’ve got going here. It’d be a shame if something happened to it.”

B,

I just have too....

>>>And let us not forget that it wan't the folks on the Right that instigated violence.<<<

How do we know mr-skate-board is not the right? Is it on his forehead?
Are we shure who he hit is the right, left, upside down?

If there is anything that I seem to see as in evidence is anything
(we include police and guard) that show up brandishing weapons, shields,
and war wagons generally does not ahve our well being formost in their
minds.

Like I said best place to be was elsewhere.

Absolutely. Anyone going to a "rally" or "Peaceful Protest" is foolish if they go expecting there to be no trouble of any kind. I avoid these, as a rule, simply because even if one side wants a peaceful protest, likely the other side will not.

Doesn't matter what or who is protesting, someone else will try to instigate trouble. There are troublemakers (and just plain idiots) on both sides.

It takes both sides to make peace happen, but only one side to make it a fight.

If yer gonna decide that it is worth going to a protest, you'd better decide that it is worth getting into violence, and worth getting arrested. Both are likely.

Dark Avenger said...

So one side can intimidate the other side and thus ruin the demonstration. Thanks for clearing that up for us.
