The Teabaggers Love Those Corporations

Nothing shows the "we love corporations and hate people" viewpoint of the Tea party and the rest of the GOP as much as their vote on Internet neutrality. Because nothing should stand in the way of the cable companies controlling where you go and what you do on the Internet.

Republicans hate freedom of information. Hell, they hate critical thinking. If Republicans had working cerebellums, there would be no way that a certain individual who resigned under fire from the last political job that person held would ever be regarded as a candidate for the presidency.

Bud sadly, that is not the case.

Do you remember when AOL was ruler of the Internet? You got a certain amount of data each month, and then WHAM, overage charges. People voted with their feet and chose ISPs with unlimited plans. Suddenly, people were leaving AOL in droves, so the company started offering their own unlimited accounts. Unfortunately, the company didn't have the infrastructure to support unlimited use. More people left due to constant busy signals.

Why the history lesson? Because the important thing was that the government stayed out of regulating the Internet, and things turned out just fine.

If you want equal access to all Internet destinations, find an ISP who will provide it, or better yet, whip a little capitalism on it and start one of your own.

"Find another ISP"... have any ides how to do that? There is one cable company in my area that provides high-speed service.

Then there is Verizon, with DSL that isn't exactly high-speed.

As for other choice, sure there are ISPs. Dial-up ISPs. Might as well go back to writing letters with quill pens.

"Build your own ISP". Great suggestion. Wholly impractical.

It's only pretend capitalism, in this industry and many others. Even when you have a 'choice,' they easily agree on arbitrary new fees.

Luggage fees on airlines, anyone?

Nangleator, if you don't like luggage fees, buy a CRJ-900 and start your own airline!
