Orange Felon Can't Tell Me What to Do

Words of Advice:

Trump's Definition of "Fairness"

It's pretty clear, in reading articles about how Trump gripes about the press being unfair, that to Trump, being "fair" to him is covering Trump like a slavish toady, an all-in bootlicker.

His definition of fairness is no more evolved than that of a toddler who has just learned the word.

It's pretty pathetic, really. He's a politician who has a skin thinner than a sheet of oinionskin paper.[1] If anybody says anything bad about him, either on the teevee or in print, Trump throws a hissy fit. I'm somewhat surprised that he hasn't thrown himself on the floor and kicked his body around in circles, much like a child pitching a fit in the store because mom won't buy cocoa-puffs or a toy.

He sits behind the Resolute Desk, throwing his daily pity party, being fluffed[2] by Immigration Oberführer Stephen Miller and Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, while whining about how everybody is being so, so unfair to him.

Poor baby. Bless his heart.

[1] Onionskin paper was popular back when airmail was a thing (first class mail went by rail or by ship) and the rates were determined by the half-ounce.
[2] I presume "verbally". The physical kind would be really creepy, but not out of character for Trump.

Set Your Motherfucking Clocks Back Tonight

Whether we adopt permanent daylight savings time or permanent standard time or split the goddamned baby and go 30 minutes inbetween, let's do it once and fucking forget about this shit, forever.

The rationale for continuing with this twice yearly time shift is about as obsolete as using bolt-action rifles for a primary infantry weapon. We might as well be practicing trench warfare and laying Deucaville railroad tracks to supply them.

Republicans Are Now Trying to Paper Over Trump's Impeachment With a Thin Veneer of Truth

A growing number of Senate Republicans are ready to acknowledge that President Trump used U.S. military aid as leverage to force Ukraine to investigate former vice president Joe Biden and his family as the president repeatedly denies a quid pro quo.
...
The pivot was the main topic during a private Senate GOP lunch on Wednesday, according to multiple people familiar with the session who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the meeting. Sen. John Neely Kennedy (R-La.) argued that there may have been a quid pro quo but said that the U.S. government often attaches conditions to foreign aid and that nothing was amiss in Trump’s doing so in the case of aid to Ukraine, these individuals said.
The veneer of truth is that conditions are often put on foreign aid: You want bulldozers, you have to buy them from an American company; we'll give you ten billion in military aid and gear if you send fifty soldiers to Afghanistan; that sort of thing.

What is not done, what is an abuse of power and what is, in point of fact, illegal as all fuck is to do that to solicit aid from a foreign government for a political candidate.

If Person A breaks into Person B's home and attacks B with a knife, B is justified in blowing A away. B is going to be congratulated by the cops, etc. Now if B is beefing with A and B walks up behind A and B shoots A in the back of the head on a public street, then B is going to go to prison until he dies (whether by natural causes or lethal injection).

Context matters. What Trump did was ask for an illegal quid pro quo. Getting a political favor is not much different from getting a bag of cash.

Republicans should wise up and stop drinking the Trumpist Kool-Aid. History will not be kind to any of them.

This was not staged. This really happened.

Back to the Gull-Wings

The Gull-Wing Stinsons are back as my lead-in photo.

Because Beto's quit.

Don't let the storm door hit you in the ass, Bobby.

Best snark on this:
Presidential candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke has announced he is dropping out of the presidential race so that he can spend more time taking guns away from his family. “I’ve been so focused on grabbing the guns of strangers,” O’Rourke told the press, “that I’ve neglected taking away the guns of those closest to me.”
...
Having dropped out of the race, O’Rourke wasted no time in turning his attention to his family, immediately confiscating his children’s super soakers. ... O’Rourke also asked his nephew Tommy where he kept his Nerf dart guns; Tommy claimed he lost them all in a “tragic boating accident.”

Because It's Friday

The Brits have a lot of steam!

Happy Blade Runner Month

The movie was set in this month:

Trump Asked for It, He Got It. (Toyota)

Democrats swept a rules package for their impeachment probe of President Donald Trump through a divided House...
Trump and his congressional lackeys have been demanding a full House vote and now they have it.

Oh, they'll still whine about something and Trump will screech that the process is so, so unfair (like some toddler), but he got what he demanded.

Call 9-1-1, then Pray

When an ex-convict climbed through her window in Salt Lake City and stabbed her repeatedly four years ago, Breann Lasley says the emergency response system that should have rushed to send help to her ended up nearly costing her life.

She is now suing a Utah company [Priority Dispatch Corp] over what she says is a faulty 911 protocol that would have resulted in her death if a nearby police officer had not happened to hear her sister’s cries and intervened.
...
Lasley and her sister, Kayli, called 911 four times after [some Asswipe] broke in through Lasley’s window on Sept. 23, 2015, yelling out their address and saying, “Help us, he’s going to kill us,” according to the lawsuit filed Wednesday in Salt Lake City’s 3rd District Court.
The interesting twist is that the cop who capped the Asswipe was in the neighborhood because Asswipe tried to break into another house and he was dispatched on that call.

That a private company is involved may be the thing that gives some legs to this lawsuit. It's pretty settled law that the cops can sit across the street and eat donuts while you're being beaten and you (or your heirs) have no legal right to complain.

Anyone who says "you don't need (implement), just call 9-1-1" is a fool.
