I can detail strip and assemble one blindfolded.
I've won a bit of cash from folks who don't believe it.
BTW, you don't need tools to fully strip a 1911A1.
That is the most bass ackwards way of assembling a 1911 I've ever seen. But ok. It worked.
NJT: That is the way they do it at the factory. I've seen 3 different assembly benches and they were all like that. I'm sure there is a reason for it, but I don't know why.
It makes sense. The parts can't drop out of the top of the gun, the slide's in the way. They can't move forward and drop out, the magazine's in the way.
Also, the only part that's fitted to the gun is the thumb safety. Maybe other parts are fitted, if needed.
