Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort agreed Friday to cooperate with the special counsel’s Russia investigation as he pleaded guilty to federal charges and avoided a second trial that could have exposed him to even greater punishment. The overnight Trumpian Tweetstorm should be epic.
Manafort's lawyers likely made a proffer to the prosecution about what he could tell them if they accepted the deal. Maybe somebody pointed out that if the Feds took all of his shit and sold it off, he would get nothing back if Trump pardoned him on his way out the door. But if he cuts a deal, maybe he can keep some of his shit.

My understanding was he is going to lose all the properties he used for bail collateral, which don’t leave him with much. It would not surprise me if he has little on Donnie, but a lot about the operations of the Russians. That being said, Donnie should be pretty concerned.
Just read the plea agreement, WOW...he seems to have horse traded to keep one house and a brokerage account but given up everything else! Best guess is the 5th Ave condo is $3.34M, Baxter apt is $1.6M, Hamptons house is $6.4M, Howard loft is $5.0M and Union St is $3.7M...for a total of $20.1M before adding in the furnishings and other assets. He keeps a $1.84M house in Arlington, VA and his Schwab account. Based upon news reports, the accounts he gives up total around $25M. Estimated total surrendered is about $46M, and he still faces 10+ years unless he can convince the Feds to recommend less to the judge. That's a shitload to surrender, so he's probably dirty as all hell...
I read one snarky comment to the effect that with the $46 mil, the Mueller investigation is operating in the black...
Wasn't surprised that it was Weissmann's name on the doc, that's just what they hired him for, and even less surprised that they're trying hard to slander and discredit him. He's the kind of guy you're scared of if you're mobbed up at all.
