Microplastic contamination has been found in tap water in countries around the world, leading to calls from scientists for urgent research on the implications for health. As the article explains, as the fibers become smaller and smaller, they'll get to the point where they'll easily penetrate into cells. And nobody really seems to know what will happen next.
Scores of tap water samples from more than a dozen nations were analysed by scientists for an investigation by Orb Media, who shared the findings with the Guardian. Overall, 83% of the samples were contaminated with plastic fibres.
The US had the highest contamination rate, at 94%, with plastic fibres found in tap water sampled at sites including Congress buildings, the US Environmental Protection Agency’s headquarters, and Trump Tower in New York. Lebanon and India had the next highest rates.

The scale of global microplastic contamination is only starting to become clear, with studies in Germany finding fibres and fragments in all of the 24 beer brands they tested, as well as in honey and sugar. In Paris in 2015, researchers discovered microplastic falling from the air, which they estimated deposits three to 10 tonnes of fibres on the city each year, and that it was also present in the air in people’s homes.

Conservative retreating response:
1. No.
2. There isn't plastic.
3. Humans aren't responsible for plastic.
4. There is plastic, but it's no big deal. What?
5. Trying to fix the problem will leave us uncompetitive.
6. Al Gore still uses plastic.
7. Al Gore is fat.
8. Did I mention, "No"?
9. Sure, conservatives have blocked every effort at fixing the problem. Why are liberals so obsessed with the problem?
10. We're all doomed, sure, but it's liberals' fault.
Nangleator, that's a pretty accurate list but I think you're missing Special Case B AKA "I'm not saying you're wrong but the real thing we should be focusing on is why didn't you say anything when Breitbart was telling me that [Obama/Hillary] invented plastic?"
Time to replace the (plastic) cartridge in my Brita pitcher.
I don't remember my Brita picture saying anything about micro plastic removal. You'd 'think' it would filter them out but as small the particles have become, it just might be ineffective.

Adds a whole new dimension to "in the water".
I don't know how the famous German Beer Purity Law deals with plastic in beer.
Look at the bright side - if we get *enough* plastics in our water, we will be able to 3D print our names in the snow!
Funny bmq215, special case B. He hasn't commented on this thread yet. Vincent Foster was murdered by DemocRat microplastic. And Seth Smith was shot by a microplastic glockenspiel pistol undetectable in nonexistent DC pizza parlor basements.
Tod, that's bordering on a personal attack. Don't be drawing inferences because another commenter either declines to comment on any particular post or maybe is to busy to.
In other words, knock that shit off.
