An update on the restoration of UP 4014
It's fairly obvious why UP may have been the only repair shop that could have restored one of the Big Boys.
I've heard that the unofficial goal is to have 4014 running for the Golden Spike sesquicentennial. That seems a bit iffy, at least to me.

Having helped restore a very small steam locomotive in Hesston, IN, I can tell you you are correct that the scale of work on a Big Boy is incredible.
Just handling these large parts requires equipment that few places would have.
