Republicans Thank All Veterans

Even veterans of the Soviet Navy:

Did they just buy a stock photo of an old veteran and nobody even looked at it?

Well, it could have been worse. They could have used a photo of this guy:

It was the IC that they were afraid of. Betcha none of them know it's Goering.

I think it's a Red Navy uniform on the old guy but I could be wrong.

I was image-googling to see if Adolf had that stupid 'stache even when he was actually in the army, and ran across this: http://tubegator.com/content/uploads/frau_hitler.jpg

I genuinely LOL'd.

what in the worlds of photo hackery?

I had to look up what it was to find out it was the campaign poster against Herring by his competitor.

Between the caption and the photo I could only see Russian officer with
a chest of distinction 9serious medals) and the name of someone vaguely germanic. This is fail.

Oh the stupidity.

The rank of the individual is that of a Captain First Rank, Russian Navy, or as it was called Military Maritime Fleet of USSR. Submarine Commanders Badge. "For Service to Homeland in the Armed Service" Badge Second Class, Northern Fleet Service Badge, Order of Lenin, Nakhimov Medal.

The gentleman saw combat.

Personally, I think that the West owes a debt of thanks to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War for, if the Wehrmacht had been able to throw its full weight into opposition of the Normandy landings, I suspect the invasion would have failed.

But I doubt if that is what that political candidate intended.

Fixer, you're right, I should have caught that. I fixed it. Thanks.

Afaik, Göring was an ace in WW1 with 22 kills, 2 of them as an observer even!

The words I want to use include some forms of vacuum, a very small layer of oral lubricant and a wide stance in a public men's room.

I would think that the red star in the center of the cabbagery would be sort of A Clue(tm), but that assumes that Republicans would know a clue if they saw one, an assumption that thus far appears quite unwarranted.

BT, if they see a star (as long as it isn't surrounded by a crescent moon) it's USA all the way.

Reminds me of a story I read once, about a veteran who was involved in some minor charge, talking to his lawyer before the trial:

Lawyer: "The Judge is a veteran. Were you a veteran?"

Defendant: "Sure was. I served four years, killed a lot of the enemy, and even got to see General Patton near the end of the war."

Lawyer: "Great."

They go to trial.

Judge: "A veteran? Good. So am I. Were you wounded?"

Defendant: "Yes your Honor, I was wounded in the Ardennes."

Judge: "The Ardennes! I was in the Battle of the Bulge too. What unit did you serve in?"

Defendant: "The Ninth Panzer, your Honor."

The Red Army killed 80% of the German soldiers who were killed during the course of the war. So yeah, that's pretty much a given.

Still doesn't make a Republican honoring a Soviet veteran any less hilarious though :).
