No, Michele Bachmann didn't go that far. But she is concerned about the "threat from the Soviet Union."
I understand the point that blatant ignorance has a part to play in our political system. But isn't it just a bit much to proclaim that there is a threat from a country that ceased to exist twenty years ago?
Bachmann is making Palin look like a PhD candidate in geopolitical studies.

Reminds me of Mr. Burns trying to get a telegraph onto the afternoon autogyro to the King of Siam.
Quite honestly, I'd love for that woman's brain to be scanned for schizophrenia; so many of her statements seem to go beyond the bounds even of her crackpot ideology & alternate reality history.
Thing is, her base is going to merely be baffled as to why us nasty liberals are making a big deal about this. Remember, her base is the common people, ordinary folk, the common clay of the New West, you know.

Whoa. The Prussians are the East Germans, IIRC and weren't, per se, part of the Soviet Union or Russia. They were also, IIRC, the most regimented and bad-ass militaristic of the various flavors of German.
Anybody correct me on this?
Some time back, the NYTimes Sunday Magazine did a piece on Poland, which had the Polish jokes told by Poles. One of them (Poland is, of course sandwiched between Prussia and Russia.:
A Polish soldier is out in a field. From the west comes a Prussian, from the east a Russian. The Pole has one bullet. Q: Which one does he shoot, which one does he close with with his bayonet. A: He shoots the Russian: business before pleasure.
