It happened just as I said, they were trying to get me up at 5:30. I gave up at 5:40, got up and fed them.

I feed my kittehs at night. Yes indeedy, they bugged me at 5PM rather than the usual 6PM (doh!). And like you, I gave in. But they'll have to learn to wait until 6PM now, because the workweek has started and I don't even get *home* until 6PM during the workweek :).

Mine eat twice a day.
If mine ate twice a day, they'd be approximately the size of blimps :-). My goal is to get through a full night's sleep with a little bit of food left in the morning so they won't wake me up seeking more food. The only way I've managed to accomplish that is feeding them a full day's amount of food in the evening (!).

There's the difference: I don't leave food out for them. I pick it up after a couple of hours and then they have to wait for the next feeding cycle. Otherwise, Gracie especially will eat herself into the size of a bed pillow.
