How to Tell If Someone Is a Bigot

There are some phrases that will tip you off that someone is a bigot:
  1. "Some of my best friends are _______"
  2. "I have nothing against ______ people, but..."
  3. "We ought to kill all of those fucking____."
  4. "I don't see why we have to give _____ special rights."
You can find an example of one of those types of bigotry right here.

I don't think his bigotry was questioned, just his homophobia.

Being a bigot is a given for many Theocrats.

I am just worn the fuck out on this issue..its really dividing people..good people.

Obama didn't have to start this mess, but he did. Why he feels the need to try to suck up to people who were never going to support him and give the back of his hand to those that did escapes me.

This is kind of what I was thinking when I came over from main page to comment.
"Obama didn't have to start this mess, but he did."
Look, Comrade E.B, we are not going to be judging Obama on who speaks at his swearing in. He said repeatedly that he intented to make nice to everyone....I'm no fan of homophobes and bigots, but as I have been saying whenever offered the chance, battling them tooth and nail doesn't work. Let's see what inviting them to the table will get us. It still doesn't mean we have to sleep with them.

The world has been giving religions the "benefit of the doubt" and "turning the other cheek" and standing quietly by since day one and have suffered abuse after abuse at the hands of their leaders and followers.
I'm willing to allow anyone their personal beliefs, but draw the line when they attack mine. This is the problem: few religions are willing to allow different beliefs.
Are we to expect Obama to have a nazi skinhead at the inauguration?

I have no impulse to engage in a dialogue of understanding with someone who begins from the premise that my relationship is less significant than his. Why should I debate a person who thinks he is superior to me because his invisible friend tells him so?

I am so fed up with organized religion. It seems more of a force for evil in the world than good.
