[S]everal Republicans have said if the voters elect Clinton, they’ll block her nominees, effectively abandoning their advice and consent role for her entire term.
“If Hillary Clinton becomes president, I am going to do everything I can do to make sure four years from now, we still got an opening on the Supreme Court,” North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr said in an audio recording of his meeting with GOP volunteers on Saturday. CNN obtained a copy of the audio.
GOP Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Ted Cruz of Texas have also suggested blocking any Clinton nominees. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said in a debate Monday night that he “can’t imagine” voting for any Clinton nominee though he stopped short of vowing to block a pick from a Democratic president.
Under the GOP's plan for gutting the Supreme Court, there would now be six justices on the Supreme Court. They were going to keep doing that until either they lost control of the Senate or gained the presidency. Moscow Mitch was eviscerating the Federal judicial system, emptying out court seats until a Republican was elected. They are nothing but a bunch of reverse ferrets.
Since Republicans were going to pack the Supreme Court by emptying it out until they could fill it, it is only fair that the Democrats respond by packing the Supreme Court by going in the other direction.
We also need to think about doing away with lifetime tenure for all judges.

"Whataboutism"
Or is that only for folks who don't vote DNC?
Do away with not only lifetime appointments by the appointments themselves - put them to a vote.
As it stands they are naught but a heavily stacked purely partisan panel of unelected civilians.
How is this court legitimate, given the illegitimacy of this administration?
The tyranny of a minority imposed on the majority.
There's an Amendment for that.
"Whataboutism" doesn't mean that my side has to stand for your side's evilness.
The media's coverage of what the Democrats might do and ignoring of what the Republicans have and are doing is the "Hillary's emails" of 2020.
How about we let each president appoint two justices per term, and let that even out the court makeup in line to what the electorate actually voted for?

Absolutely it does NOT.
I was just pointing out that when I mention something YOUR side has done that was evil, or underhanded in response to something you complain about MY side doing, y'all dismiss it as "Whataboutism", and fail to address the double standard that that entails.
Sucks when the shoe is on the other hand, don't it??
(I DO agree about the lifetime appointments though)
There is also video of Biden from 2005 decrying court packing.
McConnell made up the rule about not allowing the nominating and appointing a Supreme Court Justice in an election year, then he violates it this year. Funny how you seem unable to see that, B.
As for Biden, as The economists J. M. Keyes noted, “When the facts change, I change my mind. What, sir, do you do?”
0_0, so what? If the Republicans had played fair, this wouldn't even be discussed. But they have not. The Republicans have stacked the courts, the Democrats are free to respond to GOP chicanery.
That's the first rule of politics: "I'll do unto you like you did unto me."
Twenty years I've been trying to get the dems to turn back in their faces, play the game by their rules, and here we are: we're not even there yet the dems are just talking about - maybe - playing the same game as the con.servatives and the candy-assed cucks are already runnin' crying to the cops. Busting bullies is beautiful, bust 'em one in the nose and they all fall the same way.
Go big Joe. McConnell is pretty sure he'll be back in charge of obstructing democracy in 2022 and he's probably right. When you take power you need to use it, like Republicans do, not try for bipartisanship when the other side are bad faith actors working for our nation's enemy, Russia and its murderous oligarchs.
Statehood for PR, DC and Virgin Islands. Reform (drop the word 'packing' forever) the Supremes by fixing the number of justices at 29 and setting term limits; appoint 250 lower level judges. Resign in favor of Harris when the country is stabilized and send these retro boomers back home to rock on the porch with a nice iced tea. Go big and then go home, Joe. Last chance to save democracy.
