Shorter Trump: Confirm the Handmaid and Fuck the Economy

Yep, that's his priority.  He doesn't give a fuck about whether or not the economy goes down the tubes, only so long as he can get Handmaid Amy on the Supreme Court.

By the way, the "Handmaid Amy" title is not just snark.

So, it would appear that Barrett is, arguably, a member of a cult.  She is free to believe what she wants, but putting someone on the Supreme Court with views that are, essentially, nostalgic for the 18th Century, would be a terrible error.

Let's also dispense with the fiction that "judges follow the law".  Judges generally do that.  But the Supreme Court doesn't have judges, they have justices.  The justices are indeed free to bring their moral views and political bents to cases.  If they were not, the push by Moscow Mitch to remake the Federal judiciary would make no sense.

But the main point still is this:  As long as Trump gets his handmaid on the Supreme Court, he will not give a fuck if thirty million or more Americans are out of work forever.

Trump doesn't care about other people.  His inactions on recovery plans, his malicious mishandling of the pandemic, his feckless management of his own offices, resulting in the West Wing becoming a cornonavirus hot spot, his Kim Jong-un-esque helicopter ride and saluting the empty lawn of the White House grounds from the balcony, they are all emblematic of Trump's lack of caring for anyone but himself.

That's the way that Trump has been for all of his adult life.  Anyone who expected that he would "grow in the job" or anything like that, had to have been smoking crack.  Sociopaths don't change their spots.

Most people generally do that. The appeals courts, up to the Supremes, are there because the law doesn't appear to be clear on many issues. The Constitution, for example, is silent on the specific right to abortion. I say it permits abortion because X, Y and Z. Somebody else says it prohibits abortion, or at least gives the states the right to, because of A, B, and C. There simply is no clearcut law to follow.

Which way the justices swing will depend on their "judicial philosophy." Or in other words, their politics.

That's why this nation may be screwed by Trump and his merry Handmaids for the next fifty years.

Yours very crankily,

One of my trumpanzee co-workers is on work comp for a slip and fall last winter. Has to spend his days sitting in the breakroom. He made the comment that once again the presnident hit it outta the park. " Want your free gummint money? Now you gotta vote for trump!! He's an fffin genius!!!. This from someone who doesn't realize that the work comp rules protecting him are in the cross hairs along with any other regulations protecting workers. One of his advisors supposedly said " You have to work at being this politically inept" but the base is lapping it up.

I often despair of humanity, seeing the mass as that of maggots: a few will evolve and escape as flies, the vast majority will consume the host and die ... lately I've been trying out "planet lice, cosmic crotch-crabs," which I think rolls off the tongue so much nicer but apparently the general population isn't as familiar with lice as we once were ... we as a species, the human species, as a “race”, the human race, today stand at a cusp, an iteration, in the evolution, in the maturing, of humankind. But if we don’t abandon – outgrow – this irrational dependency on adolescent fairytales and attendant squabbles ore whose imaginary dog has the bigger dick we're not gonna' make it.

IF ... We make it, gonna' have to do something about the religion problem.

Yeah, abandoning relief talks four weeks from the end of the election was not a savvy move, especially with +/- 40 million people facing eviction soon.
But he couldn't help himself, having painted himself into a corner with the bogus claim about aid to states and cities, which he doesn't (won't) understand is needed because they are not allowed to run deficits like the federal government is and their tax receipts are just as far in the shitter as the federal government's are while they shoulder the lion's share of the burden of relief spending. You know, stuff any competent government official would know and take care of.
So, seeing the massive backlash, he freaked the fuck out and began furiously tweeting about a clean bill for $1,200 relief checks and an airline rescue.
The relief checks are his attempt at a bribe, and the airline stuff is in response to the imminent layoff of tens of thousands of airline workers in swing states, so even his backpedaling is a self serving grift.

Doug, $1,200 checks with his name on them, just before Election Day. I would expect him to order
mailed checks only, no direct deposit...of course, with what he’s done to USPS, too bad!

His attempt at a “bribe” of the electorate in the 2018 election didn’t work, the Dems gained a majority in the House. Did anyone actually believe he’d follow through with a middle class tax cut back then?
