Because It's Friday

UP Big Boy 4014 has steam up.

That they have the boiler lagging on implies that everything under it has checked out OK.

It may not be long until we get to see a sight that hasn't been seen in sixty years: A Big Boy moving under its own power.

Official word is it has under its own power backed out of the steam shop and will be at the christening tomorrow (May 4). The 4014 and 844 will then transit or Ogden for the Golden spike 150 years of transcontinental railroad celebration.

Not hubcaps, journal box covers. They open up to grease the bearings. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQAzphmlVK8A72bD3o4FUSgjLSJtJT548RqIZWbEPNQTPvPtkch
