In Oakland, California, the cops brought the hammer down on the Occupy protests. Given the Oakland police reputation for being trigger-happy, the protestors are probably lucky that they were not shot.
On the other hand, in Albany, NY, despite the bleating of Gov. "One Percent" Cuomo, the D.A. in Albany County has stated that his office isn't going to prosecute people arrested for peaceful protests because the cops have better things to do.
