Your Sunday Morning Prop Noise

Martin B-26:

A lot of men were afraid to fly it. The Army Air Force sent a team of WASPs to demonstrate the airplane around the various air bases.

The original version had a 10 ft shorter wingspan which made landing speed very high. I read one pilot say to get that speed you had to aim it at the ground and pull up at the last minute. Too many newby pilots couldn't do that.
Eddie Rickenbacher was brought in to check it out and pronounced it a great plane to fly but if you wanted new pilots to fly it, it would need 10 more feet of wing. It was done and it became one of if not the best twin engine bomber of the war.

Montag beat me to it. And yes, it became a great aircraft that ended up being used in Vietnam, and as a waterbomber into the 1980s!
