I had always heard that the FEG Hi-Power was a knockoff of the Browning Hi-Power.
Seems that wasn't the case. It was a licensed copy, with tooling and drawings that were purchased from FN.

Thanks for your blog, I visit it first every day and have been doing so for at least ten years.
have reached 71 and the arthritis in my fingers makes it extremely difficult to load my 1911A1 clips. What would be your recommendation be for a good, reliable revolver for home/self defense. Already have the obligatory 12 Guage pump action shotgun.. Thanks in advance.
Almost every revolver in current production can be a crapshoot regarding quality. Supposedly current Taurus models aren't too bad, but older ones...no. Current Colts (King Cobra) are nice, but may be pricey.
If recoil-sensitive, a Ruger LCR in .327, using .32 H&R Magnum is rather soft-shooting, but the ammunition is not cheap. A used Model 10, if mechanically in good shape, is really hard to beat. Same for a Ruger Security Six. .38 wadcutters are good medicine and don't have much recoil.
