A PBY ex-firebomber.
I'm somewhat sure that all of firebombers that were surplus from WW2 have been retired.

A blog by a "sucker" and a "loser" who served her country in the Navy.
If you're one of the Covidiots who believe that COVID-19 is "just the flu",
that the 2020 election was stolen, or
especially if you supported the 1/6/21 insurrection,
leave now.

Depends if you consider the P-2’s war surplus. Real production didn’t hit till late ‘45, but...
I know the Mars flew a bit recently (2013 or 14 season) in Canada, is it out of fire fighting now?
Those early firefighting planes look so small compared to the monsters that flew over my home a couple years ago during our local burn. I got to see one close up in action another year. The pilot came into a steep gully almost level before releasing his load, but then he had to pull straight up to get out of that gully. That took some guts. We need more of those kinds of people in the Forest Service, "F" a space force.
