Shorter Connecticut Ruling: "Now, We'll Come For Your Horses."

The Connecticut State Supreme Court is deciding a case as to whether or not horses are a "naturally vicious species".

I don't know anything about the judges on the CT appellate court that said that horses are "naturally vicious", but I suspect that they know as much about human history and the history of the domestication of animals as they do about the composition of Pluto's atmosphere.

The consequences of the state supremes upholding that ruling are fairly easy to guess at. With such a determination allowed to stand, it would be far easier for people to sue horse owners and win. As a result of that, horse owners, riding academies and boarding stables would find it next to impossible to purchase insurance. As for the horses themselves, they'd likely be euthanized.

"Nutmeg State", it should be renamed the "Nutter State".

Phil, as far as I know, there isn't an operating horse slaughterhouse in the US. The Canadians won't accept American horses for slaughter because of the use of drugs in racing.

So those excess horses will end up being killed and buried. Or they'll be abandoned on some remote farm to starve to death.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if there weren't any more slaughter houses just for horses.

I actually worked in one in Portland Ore in the early nineties. They were refitting it for horses from cows and sending the meat to Europe. It belonged to a distant relative and it finally went out of business.

That was one of the worst jobs I have ever had and what made it twice as bad was that there was a rendering plant right next door.

I cannot begin to describe that horror and I will never forget that stench as long as I live.

Labeling horses as a vicious animal is about as stupid as you can get. Nanny is running amok. The fact that they get away with this ridiculous shit is what really pisses me off.
