But It's Not "Terrorism" when These Guys Do it?

White? Check.

Christian? probably, so check.

Nope, not a terrorist.
[Asswipe], a former TSA employee and member of the 100,000-plus “sovereign citizen” movement, planned to lay siege to a Forsyth County, Ga., courthouse and take hostages before he was killed by a sheriff’s deputy on Friday.

Throwing smoke bombs and tire spikes, [Asswipe] attacked the Forsyth County Courthouse on Friday morning, striking a sheriff’s deputy in the leg with a bullet. The deputy, 25-year veteran James Rush, returned fire, and [Asswipe} was killed after a brief gun battle on the street, which was joined by a local SWAT team.
Because Christians can kill people in this country based on their brand of political or religious extremism and it's not terrorism.

Which is why this particular asswipe was not even a blip on the news. But oh, if Asswipe had been of a certain faith held by a billion people, then we'd be seeing Asswipe dissected for six days in the Right Wing Noise Machine.

Update: The Right Wing Noise Machine is beginning to proclaim that the Vegas Asswipes were government agents. Fucking typical.

if asswipe was of another certain faith he could've screamed ALLAH AKBAR as he shot US servicemen and gotten it classified as workplace violence.

The Asswipe you're bellyaching over is on Death Row.

But thanks for playing.

So? We execute plenty of people for crimes other than terrorism. If christian asswipe killing people is terrorism, why isn't it terrorism when islamic asswipe kills people?

Comrade Misfit said...

"Crimes?" Name two crimes that we execute people for.

That still does not detract from my central point, which is when white Christians commit crimes like that, from gunning down cops in Vegas to blowing up a Federal building, the Right refuses to use the word "terrorism". But a cab driver from Pakistan could get into a traffic accident and the Right will scream that it was a terrorist act.

Fun data from the Las Vegas asswipe investigation. The male asswipe was asked to leave Bundy's ranch after making others uncomfortable, including the fact he was a felon in possession of a gun. The statements by Mr. Bundy's "coordinator" make it clear that they knew he was a felon and in possession of a gun.

Now, if you know a person is illegally in possession of a firearm, and you favor lawful firearms ownership, why don't you report it? Especially if he's making people nervous!

I understand that the Bundy group/groupies doesn't like/respect/accept the Federal Government, but basic pragmatism suggests you should have done something.

Come on guys, unless you really want to pull a Canute and deny that those in favor of gun ownership are a steadily declining percentage of the U.S. population and that those in favor of limits or confiscation are an increasing percentage (helped, not insubstantially, by these kind of rampages) you have to help stop these nut-jobs! Otherwise, the tide will wash over you.

Oh yes, Centerpuke, gun owners are a dying breed. That's why we've been marching through the courts state by state to make no-issue and may-issue states into shall-issue and constitutional carry ones. That's why the BATFE is backed up 8-10 months on NFA paperwork. That's why hundreds of thousands of first-time gun owners are registering for concealed carry in the newly liberated territories. That's why ranges country-wide are packed full with lines around the block in the middle of the week days, the ammo shelves bare, and gun manufacturers scrambling to meet demand. That's why the NRA hit 5 million PAYING members and the biggest baddest anti-gun groups can muster a couple dozen pearl-clutching, pants-shitting paid astroturfers with Bloomburg's money. OBVIOUSLY it's because us bitter clingers are a dying breed.

WRT the vegas asswipes (btw: Thanks CM for not mentioning names, I wish the mainstream media would follow your good example), I believe the Bundy militia turned them away due to felony status alone. I'm not sure if the asswipes were openly armed or made their felon in possession status known.

Andrew:

1) I own/carry.

2) I've never called gun owners bitter clingers

3) Look at the simple facts, a decreasing percentage of the US population own guns (University of Chicago has polled since 1973 and seen rates fall from an average of 50% in the 70's to an average of 35% on the 00's). The demographic trends in the US are toward population groups who are NOT generally owners of guns and strong supporters of gun rights, and in some cases are haters (for that matter, ~73% of the population support "reasonable" [definitions, like your mileage, may vary] restriction on guns).

4) The majority, in the United States, can change the law, subject to the Constitution. A super majority can change the Constitution. I'm simply suggesting that as these events continue (and/or increase), the likelihood of a snap change increases. That change might take any or a number of forms, but if you look at history, groups that held a hard line against change were often swept away when change occurred...those who recognized the tide and helped channel it survived (and often prospered).

5) The Bundy group said it recognized the State of Nevada. The asswipe male was in violation of both State and Federal law, if you respect the State, why not report this? Also, the Bundy coordinator stated that the asswipes were making statements that made others uncomfortable so they gave them some money (danegeld, anyone) so they would leave.

I place very little faith in phone poll data about firearm ownership. If somebody calls me out of the blue and asks if I have guns, I have no interest in being truthful. I have heard widespread agreement on this matter from gunny circles. This is also assuming that the researchers from Antigun Central, IL are being objective and honest in their reporting - not an assumption I'd make. I'm hearing the exact opposite of those results from people who actually congregate where firearms are sold and used. The plural of anecdote may not be data, but I'm far from convinced that gun ownership is on the decline.

As for "channeling the tide" fuck the everlasting shit out of that noise. Not one step back. If the Constitution is amended to remove civilian firearms ownership, I'll start killing. I'll kill the foot soldiers sent to take my guns, then I'll kill their masters, then I'll kill the politicians who enacted the change. There's way too much history on record to ever even considering disarming. Ask the Jews what comes of obeying such measures; Never Again.

NORC has conducted the GSS in the same general manner since 1973 and uses both phone and in person communications. While some might not answer truthfully, their methodology and results track closely with other data showing similar facts. Argue all you want with anecdotal evidence, but you are in the echo chamber.

As for your commitment to killing, I think it speaks for itself...

Comrade Misfit said...

Andrew, I respectfully suggest that you stop reading whatever flavor of End Times fiction you've been absorbing. The truth of the matter is that if an armed force was sent to take away your guns, they'd end up squashing you without any compunction. You're not going on any widespread killing spree, just like those Asswipes in Vegas and the other sovereign citizen cop-killers.

If you really believe the stuff you're espousing, then maybe you ought to get some serious professional help.

One critical difference between the vegas asswipes and myself is that I'm not looking for an excuse to kill cops. I fully intend on dying in my bed of old age having never fired a shot in anger. Widespread confiscation of civilian firearms is one thing that would push me into open violence. I've seen that playbook too many times, I know how it ends. I presume you're familiar with that Solzhenitsyn quote? "And how we burned in the camps later..." What is the point of the second amendment at all, if not armed resistance against tyranny? And I'm not talking about "omfg I got a parking ticket TYRANNY!!!11!one!" anti-government raging, I'm talking full-out "hand in your guns, constitution is suspended, POTUS has just declared himself president-for-life, kill all the Jew rats" tyranny. Which, frankly, I don't expect to happen, but there will be no appeasement nor compromise in any way, shape, or form with those who wish to disarm me.

Would you comply if ordered to disarm?

What I would do or not do is not something that I would be willing to discuss on any sort of electronic format.

For reasons that should have been obvious, at least for the last year.
