Tennessee lawmakers have passed a bill banning the release of airborne chemicals that critics say is inspired by "chemtrails" conspiracy theories.

The bill forbids "intentional injection, release, or dispersion" of chemicals into the air.

State legislatures seem to do a lot of stupid things. This is almost as dumb as when Indiana considered defining 𝛑 as 3.2. It's as dumb as the outlawing of whaling in Utah.

Judge Cannon is Either Incompetent or is Cooking the TOFF's Documents Trial

I'd like to think that she's an idiot, for that is a bit more charitable than her trying to fix the trial for the guy who appointed her.

But she'd have to be disbarment-level incompetent for the former.

Anyone Who Does a Deal With That Grifter is a Greedy Moron

Donald Trump is suing two co-founders of Trump Media & Technology Group, the newly public parent company of his Truth Social platform, arguing that they should forfeit their stock in the company because they set it up improperly.

Anyone stupid enough to do a deal with that clown deserves whatever bad shit happens to him. For they knew he was a snake when they signed the papers.

Israel Steps On Its Crank, Again

Some of Israel’s closest allies on Tuesday condemned the deaths of seven aid workers who were killed by airstrikes in Gaza — a loss that prompted multiple charities to suspend food deliveries to Palestinians on the brink of starvation.

The deaths of the World Central Kitchen workers threatened to set back efforts by the U.S. and other countries to open a maritime corridor for aid from Cyprus to help ease the desperate conditions in northern Gaza.

World Central Kitchen said it had coordinated with the Israeli military over the movement of its cars. Three vehicles moving at large distances apart were hit in succession. They were left incinerated and mangled, indicating multiple targeted strikes.

I get the fog of war, but damn! That's some Russian-grade murderous bullshit.

Hamas's strategy in this war has been to use their people as human shields and dare the Israelis to come after them. Israel took them up on that. The blowback has been fierce and predictable.

The TOFF's Favorite Judge's Thumb on the Scales

The prospects of Donald Trump going to trial in July on charges of retaining national security documents, as suggested by special counsel prosecutors, are rapidly diminishing, with the judge overseeing the case yet to issue a schedule weeks after she was presented with the potential options.

The US district judge Aileen Cannon received proposed trial start dates from Trump and the special counsel Jack Smith more than a month ago in advance of a hearing ostensibly to settle the matter in Fort Pierce, Florida, but she has still not decided when the proceeding will begin.

As a result, Trump has been able to avoid filing certain pre-trial motions that have to be completed before the case can proceed to trial, playing into his strategy of trying to delay the case as much as possible before the 2024 election in November.

It sure seems as though Cannon is doing her best to ensure that things tilt the TOFF's way. Setting trial dates should be relatively easy, it's not as though that requires her law clerk to do any research.

And Then There Were None

LCDR Lou Conter, USN-ret, the last survivor of the sinking of the USS Arizona, has died. He was 102.

Conter was a quartermaster on the Arizona. After the ship sank, he went to flight school and flew PBYs, flying 200 missions as a night raider. He was shot down twice and, each time, kept his crew calm until they were rescued.

To Conservatives, "DEI" is a Synonym For N****r

Mayor Brandon Scott has come to expect overt and not-so-overt racism.

The latest example came in the aftermath of Tuesday morning’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. Within hours, Scott said he started to notice social media posts labeling him as a “DEI Mayor.”

Scott immediately bristled at the dog whistle.

“We know what these folks really want to say when they say DEI mayor,” he told The Banner. “Whether it is DEI or clown. They really want to say the N-word. But there is nothing they can do and say to me that is worse than the treatment of my ancestors. I am proud of who I am and where I come from.”

Mayor Scott won his election fair and square, but that matters not to the Royal Association of Butthurt White Folk. Those calling him the "DEI Mayor" probably were taking a break from ironing their white robes and prepping 4x4s for their next cross-burning.

The Mayor is right: They don't have the guts to come right out and call him a n*****r. Instead, they use dog-whistles like "DEI" and "woke".

The Orange Moron has been the leader in making it acceptable for racists to be racist in public.

That Double-Murder Conviction Became a Lot Less Important Today

For maybe the last time, [Richard] Alex Murdaugh, in a prison jumpsuit instead of the suit he used to wear, shuffled into a courtroom Monday in South Carolina and was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison.

Murdaugh was punished — this time in federal court — for stealing from clients and his law firm. The 55-year-old disbarred attorney is already serving a life sentence without parole in a state prison for killing his wife and son.

A report by federal agents recommended a prison sentence between 17 1/2 and just under 22 years.

U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel said he sentenced Murdaugh to a harsher punishment than suggested because Murdaugh stole from “the most needy, vulnerable people” like a client who became a quadriplegic after a crash, a state trooper who was injured on the job, and a trust fund meant for children whose parents were killed in a wreck.

At his age, that's a life stretch. Even if he manages to get his murder convictions overturned, he's got 27 years for stealing clients' money from his state conviction and forty from his Federal conviction. Odds are he'll do his time in state prison. Only if his murder convictions are overturned and he does his time on the financial conviction would he be moved to Federal prison. Which isn't likely to happen.
