The soaring price of eggs has forced Waffle House to add a temporary surcharge on customers’ orders.
The Georgia-based chain is adding a 50-cent charge per egg because of the “nationwide rise in cost of eggs,” according to signs posted at its restaurants.

I was wondering about that. We don't have a Waffle House but we have a Denny's chain and they serve a lot of breakfasts. They have to be hurting from the cost of eggs and I wondered if they'd have to up the prices on their breakfasts to cover it. An egg surcharge seems to be more equitable. But 50 cents apiece? That seems a bit excessive to me. 2 eggs don't cost them a buck, especially wholesale.
