You couldn't fill up a short bus with the number of Republicans in the Congress who treat the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. As for the Supreme Court, you couldn't fill up a taxicab.

The Kavanaugh Memorial

The memorial for Renee Good, who was killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, was set on fire Tuesday night, a Minneapolis City Council member said.

Jason Chavez, who represents the area where Good was killed, said someone poured gasoline on a fenced part of the memorial at 33rd Street and Portland Avenue.

The Minneapolis Police Department said someone set fire to a pile of wood, and the fire was extinguished by the time officers arrived around 8:45 p.m. No one was injured, but several items at the memorial site were damaged.

"This is despicable," Chavez wrote in a social media post.

Neighbors and observers worked to extinguish the fire, according to Chavez.

No one has been arrested, police said, and the fire is under investigation.

Meanwhile, noted fascist wimp and asshole buddy of the Hillbilly CouchFucker, Curtis Yarvin, is having a cow because Trump isn't moving fast enough to destroy our republic. I don't know why he just doesn't get on an airplane and fly to a country whose political system would better suit him, but my guess is that he's either too stupid or too lazy to learn Mandarin or Russian.

My guess is that Yarvin, who seems to want to see everything burn down, would lose a fight with a few Brownie Scouts.

Seems That There Are Gradations of Fascists on the Supremes

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to allow the Trump administration to deploy National Guard troops in the Chicago area to support its immigration crackdown, a significant defeat for the president’s efforts to send troops to U.S. cities.

The justices declined the Republican administration’s emergency request to overturn a ruling by U.S. District Judge April Perry that had blocked the deployment of troops. An appeals court also had refused to step in. The Supreme Court took more than two months to act.

Three justices, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch, publicly dissented.

That gives us an idea who the True Nazis are on he Court.

And it's interesting that either the Court is signalling that they won't always roll over for Trump or they are trying to fool us into thinking that.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has summoned the military’s top officers — hundreds of generals and admirals — to a base in northern Virginia for a sudden meeting next week, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The directive did not offer a reason for the gathering Tuesday of senior commanders of the one-star rank or higher and their top advisers at the Marine Corps base in Quantico. The people, who described the move as unusual, were not authorized to publicly discuss the sensitive plans and spoke on condition of anonymity.

My guess is that Whiskey Pete called this meeting to have the generals and admirals swear an oath of personal loyalty to President Voldemoron.

The one thing that is clear from the Kimmel mess is there are a lot of conservatives who have shown in the last week that their committment to free speech only applies to speech they agree with. Whether or not you continue to watch stations owned by Sinclair and Nexstar is up to you.

Kimmel May Not Be Back in Your Area

If your local affiliate is owned by Sinclair, they're not airing Kimmel's show. They're insisting that Kimmel pay tribute to Kirk's estate. That's not a surprise, the owers are serious far-right goons. Their news programs are notorious for being more propaganda than news.

If you have a station in your area that is owned by Sinclair, regardless of the network it airs, switch them off. If you want to do more, look up the station's address and send the manager a physical letter. If you have friends who feel the same way, ask them to do the same. Email is too easy to ignore. Hell, if they have a fax number, send them one, if you still have a computer with a built-in modem.

It's OK to Not Bake a Cake or Provide Flowers to a Gay Wedding, But We'll Prosecute Anyone Who Doesn't Print Kirk Flyers

Attorney General Pam Bondi has threatened to prosecute a former private employee at Office Depot for refusing to print flyers for a Charlie Kirk vigil.

“Businesses cannot discriminate,” Bondi said, referring to the Office Depot incident. “If you wanna go in and print posters with Charlie’s pictures on them for a vigil, you have to let them do that. We can prosecute you for that.”.

If Charlie Kirk had thrown a gay wedding and he couldn't get a cake, Bondi would have spun her head around in confusion as to whether or not she should be outraged.

Vice President JD Vance on Monday jumped onto the conservative movement demanding consequences for those who have cheered Charlie Kirk’s killing, calling on the public to turn in anyone who says distasteful things about the assassination of his friend and political ally.

Killing somebody for their political beliefs is wrong.

But it would be nice if that was an ideal followed by the dead guy, who celebrated the attempted murder of Paul Pelosi. I am absolutely sure that if the perp had found Nancy Pelosi at home and killed her, Kirk and his ilk would have been figuratively dancing in her blood in celebration. Just like Republicans celebrated the murders of Melissa and Mark Hortman.

It is becoming clearer and clearer after Kirk’s slaying that freedom of speech, like every other constitutional right, is one that is to be freely enjoyed only by straight, white, conservative, christian men.

In that, they are dishonoring the man they seek to honor:

And it is no coincidence that whenever the Feds began looking at domestic terrorism, they found out every time that the threat was coming from the Right and the Republicans made them shut down the programs/inquiries.

As Sen. Murphy warns, we may be in for some dark times. For the Right is doing its best to turn this killing into their Reichstag moment and use that to quash freedom for everyone else. And they are not shy about their aims.

And above all, Trump needs to distract people from the fact that he is prominently mentioned in the Epstein files.

Johnny Roberts and His Calvinball Court

Justice Jackson nailed it by stating that the Supreme Court is playing Calvinball, with one exception.

Calvinball, as you should know, is a game with no rules. That is how the Roberts Court functions: The Consititution, the written law and prior decisions are of no import if any of those hinder the Fascist wing of the Court from acheiving the result that it wants, which is no matter what the issue is, Trump wins.

The Five Fascists all lie down and let Trump wipe his feet on them and the law.

We've crossed into an authoritarian state, thanks, to the Supreme Court and yes, to much of the mainstream press, which has been busily closing its eyes to what Trump has been doing. None of it should have been a suprise to anyone who paid attention to what he said, for years. Hell's Bells, there was even a written and detailed plan. But the press, including the motherfucking New York Times, said, repeatedly: "Oh, that's just Trump being Trump and OMG, Biden's old!"

You work for the New York Times and the WaPo, among others, then this is partially on you. He's doing what he can to crush a free press and you assholes just sat on your hands. His allies are egging him on to bring other critics to heel..

Since the FBI has changed its motto of "fidelity, bravery and integrity" to "fealty, buttkissing and ignominity", don't expect any movement on this case once they determine that it's Trump's peeps who have been ripping off that gear. I watched some of the footage from the Rotted Mango's birthday parade. There seemed to be a something going on with the soldiers, from simply not giving a shit to malicious compliance. The marching was more of organized strolling. The formations weren't marching in step and appeared to make no effort to do so. The Ft. Bragg campaign rally had soldiers creeened for political reliability. The parade had soldiers that appeared to not only not give a shit, but were resentful at having to spend an entire Saturday performing for a draft dodger who regards them as chumps.

And what the hell was up with them playing "Fortunate Son" while the soldiers marched past? It's an antiwar and antidraft song. It mocks people like the Hair Furor.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota assassin was indeed a Trumpanzee.

And Trump is still a terrible person.

As noted in the cited article, conservatives repeatedly said "86 46" when Biden was president and nobody was investigated by the Secret Service. The Director of Homeland Security did not have a conniption fit.

If you care to, you can find all sorts of shit on X and Untruth Social and other places by right-wing jagoffs who are proclaiming that manufacturing jobs are great for men and that's why we need to bring them back.

I will place one bet: The percentage of those keyboard-warriors who have ever worked in a factory, let alone held a union card, is probably no greater than 3%, if even that.

If they had, they might have learned a few things. First off, most manufacturing jobs are mindlessly repetitive. You do the same task, over and over again, eight hours a day, 270 days a year.

Second, some are dangerous. If your mind wanders while doing that same task over and over, you could get hurt. You could hurt someone else. You might make bad parts. If you're lucky, the company has the latest in machinery equipped with safety guards and if you're really lucky, nobody has fucked with them because they make operating harder. Yes, there were guys who bypassed the two-hands-no-tie-down interlocks so they could adjust the workpiece as the press came down and who lost fingers or hands for that. (On top of that, they then got fired for deliberately operating unsafe equipment.) If you're further lucky, the company furnishes you with the PPE to be safe, but that's far less likely going forward, as OSHA's been pretty much demolished.

Third, some of them are really filthy jobs. They are the kind of jobs where the old workers' houses had showers in the basement; the husband would come home, go into the basement, strip, shower and put on clean clothes before going up into the house. Regardless of how good your PPE is, some of that gets into your body.

Fourth, they are hard on your body. You'll retire with worn-out joints, a bad back, arthritic hands and all the other joys of abusing your body for forty years.

I worked a couple of vacation terms at a chemical plant, the first time between high school and college. There was another kid who was doing the same, except that he liked the money they paid so he didn't go on to college. When I went back there the following year, he was still there. The older men and women on the floor uniformly thought that he was an idiot. One asked me what sort of fool would choose to work there on the factory floor when they could go to college and get a job where they worked at a desk, made good money, and came home as clean as they were when they began their day.

Manufacturing, in the way that the damn pundits think, isn't coming back. The vulture capitalists, like Chainsaw Al Dunlap and Mitt Romney, among others, sent those jobs overseas in order to make shit cheaper, both in costs and quality, so they could make even more obscene amounts of money. The only way those jobs are coming back if there is a global deflationary crash so severe that people will work for shit wages just to survive.

And that, Gentle Reader, may be the plan.
