Did Obama Dime Out Blagojevich?

In a story in today's Times about how then-Senator Obama's push to have Illinois enact an ethics bill led indirectly to Gov. Blagojevich being indicted for corruption, this nugget appeared:
Tipped off to Mr. Blagojevich’s efforts [to sell Mr. Obama's senate seat], federal agents obtained wiretaps for his phones and eventually overheard what they say was scheming by the governor to profit from his appointment of a successor to the United States Senate seat being vacated by President-elect Obama.
Tipped off by whom? I'll place a bet that the tip came from someone high up in Obama's campaign/transition team.

This one has Rahm Emmanuel's fingerprints all over it. This is exactly the sort of thing that a machine politician's consigliere takes care of so that it doesn't bother the Boss, thereby giving the Boss plausible deniability when questioned while making sure the Boss's interests are taken care of. You wanna say "What's in it for me?" when the Boss's man comes down and asks ya for a favor? That knife in the back didn't happen by accident, heh! And Rahm is a past master of making sure that the knife makes it right where it's needed...

Let's say goodbye to the Mayberry Machiavellis. Now we got the masters of machine politics in power, the Chicago machine, and we're gonna get to see the real deal. But if they can keep the potholes filled and the trains running on time like they do in Chicago, I got no beef, kapiche?
