We are into the sixth year of the Iraq War. The Bush Administration has been meddling in Iran, they have sponsored armed insurgents operating inside Iran. The Iranians have been meddling in Iraq. So Bush is about to start his third war there. The mortgage meltdown continues, foreclosure filings set record after record. As a result, the housing market is in a free-fall as millions of people watch the equity in their homes dwindle and turn negative. Paychecks are shrinking. Crude oil prices are at all-time highs. Gas prices continue to climb and it is an open question whether millions of people will be able to afford to heat their homes next winter. Food prices are going up and, in some commodities, the prices are skyrocketing. Layoffs are intensifying. Climate change is going completely unaddressed. The Federal budget is a train wreck.
With all of these problems, catastrophes (present and impending) and challenges facing the nation, what do the news and news-talk shows all focus on?
Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
Jon Stewart had the best take on this: The cable bobbleheads are giving the Wright story all of the attention due a missing pretty white girl.
If you are on a broadcast or cable news show, I am certain that you have some rationale that you tell to yourself to explain why you are such a whore. But that is indeed what you are: A whore. At least the whores down in Redhook who are sucking off the truckers for $20 a pop know what they are. You folks, on the other hand, think you're doing the nation a public service.
But you're not. You're just whores in $2,000 outfits and with better makeup than the working girls down at the docks.
