This was Buddy. He was a terrific cat. He was very friendly to everyone and to all other cats (except George). He was FIV+, yet he lived for almost ten years with the disease. At the end he was blind in one eye and due to slow organ failure, he had gone from 16lbs to 9lbs.
Buddy always wanted to go outside. On his last day, we fed him cream and then let him go outside for awhile. That's when I took this photo of him. Then I took him for his last visit to the vet.
This is George as a kitten; the photo was taken with an inexpensive camera and it is pretty dark.
One day, when George was fully grown, we came back from the grocery store. We tossed a paper bag on the floor and George went inside the bag. Buddy saw him in the bag, circled around from behind and started stomping on the bag with his front paws, George squirted out the front and ran off. It was pretty obvious that Buddy was trying to kill him. Later, George went back into the bag and Buddy repeated the process. George stopped going into paper bags as long as Buddy was around.

This brought a tear to my eye. Cats are good friends to humankind.
Fellini sends his regrets. His predecessor here was also named Buddy, most likely the victim of a coyote.
My condolences on your kitty. I grew up with lots of kitties for friends. You and your kitty were lucky to have each other.
