CAPT Robert Truax, USN-ret., RIP

He was one of the original rocket engineers. He was an early proponent of civilian space travel. His team developed the JATO bottles that were used for enabling heavy aircraft to take off from short fields.

  1. Many years ago, when I was still working on my pipe dream of achieving a college degree, I presented a paper on the history of the BSA (Boy Scouts of America). While researching the paper I found Robert Truax had achieved Eagle rank. This was of great interest, since I was such a fan of the U.S. space program.

The death of Mr. Truax is the end of an era.

BTW, the video clip was cool.
