Your Sunday Morning Rotor Noise

CH-53s:

  1. Picture brings back memory of some pucker factor. Had this reply from NYG Tower one night in the late 1970s: "Cherokee 050 you are clear inbound from Brooke. Active runway is 20 altimeter 30.01." "Your traffic is an H-53 at 1500 feet with no lights." Pattern altitude at Quantico was 1,000 feet and for some reason the setting the tower gave was always off by 100 feet or so. I'm still here so there was no real problem, but the H-53 rotor wash is significant for a Cherokee.
