A jury found Donald Trump liable Tuesday for sexually abusing advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in 1996, awarding her $5 million in a judgment that could haunt the former president as he campaigns to regain the White House.
The verdict adds to Trump’s legal woes and offers vindication to Carroll, whose allegations had been mocked and dismissed by Trump for years. She nodded as the verdict was announced in a federal courtroom in New York City just a few hours after deliberations had begun She hugged supporters and smiled through tears.
Jurors also found Trump liable for defaming Carroll after she made her allegations public. Trump chose not to attend the civil trial and was absent when the verdict was read.
I've implied before that my belief is that his lawyer's trial strategy was dictated by the TOFF. Hammering the living shit out of an accuser in a sexual misconduct/rape trial doesn't play well these days.
The jury was out for about three hours. That suggests to me that it wasn't even a close matter in their eyes.
On to Georgia.
New word I found on the web that fits my reaction to the verdict - schadenfreudegasm.
ReplyDeleteHe probably is thinking to solidify the support of the third of voters , which are gun toting , bat shit crazy devotees. Only a cultist can understand the strategy involved...prepping for the coming civil insurrection ?
ReplyDeleteThey jurors only waited 3 hours so they could get lunch.
ReplyDeleteDang shame it wasn't a criminal trial...
ReplyDeleteTOFF would be on the sex offender lists.
Eck!
he probably wouldn't have been convicted. The burden of proof is a lot higher.
ReplyDeletehis unit may have been too small for rape.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the jury took even less time than that, but felt that it would look bad if they came back 10 minutes later with a judgement.
ReplyDeleteI suppose there might have been some wrangling over the rape charge, given that Carroll admitted she wasn't sure if she was actually penetrated (at least, that is what I've read).
What no man, especially Trump, ever wants to hear: "I couldn't tell if it was in or not".
Yeah, his little mushroom wasn't big enough ...
