Yep, You Can Place a Heavy Bet: Trump Worked for Russia

President* Donald Trump avoided directly answering when asked whether he currently is or has ever worked for Russia after a published report said law enforcement officials, concerned about his behavior after he fired FBI Director James Comey in 2017, had begun investigating that possibility.

Trump said it was the “most insulting” question he’d ever been asked.
"How dare you ask me that question, I've never been so insulted in my life" is textbook evasion. It almost always seems that when someone goes down that route, the answer to the question, eventually, is "yes."

  2. Doug, this is your link in a clickable format.

But this is the key point: The Mueller investigation is about Russia, not Trump. To the point that people have fallen afoul of the Mueller investigation is because of their activities on behalf of Russia.

So to the extent that Mueller is investigating Trump, it's because of possible ties between Trump and Russia. Ties that seem more certain as each day goes by.

  3. Yes, Comrde, that is my point. This raises the level to def com 4. Sorry about the link. It yanks the obstruction from a narrow legal category to something much bigger. And maybe, hopefully, beyond Artiice II protections.

  4. I suppose it's against journalistic ethics, but if I were interviewing someone and got an evasive answer like that, I'd want to reply "OK, I'll take that as a no. Now on another subject..."

  6. Or to have it all wrapped up in a neat package by Max Boot, a disenchanted neo-con:

  7. The false equivalence in that article is nauseating. Trump has to stick to his story or else he and his family go to prison. The Republicans are along for the ride and will reap what they have sowed.

  8. Sollozzo: What guarantees could I give you, Mike? I'm the hunted one. I've missed my chance. You think too much of me, kid. I am not that clever. All I want is a truce.

The non-denial denial. Sollozzo was lying about wanting a truce and trump is lying about being a Russian stooge.

  9. Lie after lie after lie. Every time this imbecile opens his mouth another lie comes out. My question is: when will all these super patriotic, conservative, evangelical supporters finally say enough is enough and be willing to get rid of this embarrassment to save the country?
