Mattis Quits

The day after Trump seemed to have obeyed an order from Putin to withdraw U.S. forces from Syria, Secretary of Defense James Mattis quit, wishing Trump good luck in finding a servile toady to take over the job.

OK, that's my take on it.
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is stepping down from his post, President* Donald Trump announced Thursday, after the retired Marine general clashed with the president over a troop drawdown in Syria and Trump’s go-it-alone stance in world affairs.

“Because you have the right to have a secretary of defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position,” Mattis wrote.
The Russians can't be bothered to hide their satisfaction. They seemed to have gotten a lot for their money.

    One should not hire an expert and then ignore his advice.

    Especially when he can retire and live comfortably.

    He misspoke. Should have inserted "... better aligned with the idiotic misinformed views you hold on these ...?
