Fifty Years On

Apollo 8 lifted off for the first manned flight out of Earth's gravity well on December 21st, 1968.

  1. Back then, even on grainy Black and White TV's we all watched every launch. Even our school would allow us to watch launches on TV in the Auditorium.
    Now, it's like "Oh the Russians launched another group" ho hum.
    We need something more exciting than "growing lettuce in space".
    Maybe we could start on collecting asteroids for metal and water? I don't know, but something?
